Alaric was getting ready for his first date with Meredith, a half empty glass of whiskey on the nightstand. He was buttoning up his shirt when he felt a small breeze.
"Ric…" he heard a voice barely whisper. He looked around and finished buttoning his shirt before poking his head out the door.
"Elena? You here?" he asked, looking around. He didn't find her and shrugged.
"Alaric…" he heard the voice whisper and he whirled around again.
"Damn… I have got to stop drinking so much.." he muttered to himself. When he turned around Jenna was right in front of him.
"Ric!" she exclaimed, making him yelp and scramble backwards.
"J-Jenna?" he asked with wide eyes. "How..?" he trailed off. Jenna shook her head.
"I'm a ghost.. well.. for now.." she said, raising her hand up to touch his cheek but her hand only went through him. Alaric sighed.
"What do you mean, for now?" he asked, backing away from her slightly. Jenna shook her head and reached for him.
"I.. I just came to say goodbye.. I mean… I never got to before I died…" she said, twisting the hem of her shirt. Alaric swallowed a knot in his throat.
"Jenna.. I.. I'm trying to move on.." he said quietly and Jenna nodded.
"I know, and I'm glad.." Jenna said, looking up at him with sad eyes. "But I want you to know that I love you. Okay? Never forget that." she said as he nodded.
"I-I love you too Jenna." he whispered as she stepped closer. Their lips were almost touching when he heard a thud and she disappeared and all he opened his eyes. He had another dream about her again. It was torturing him. Alaric sat up and ran a hand through his hair as he rolled off the couch. Elena emerged from the kitchen.
"Sorry! I dropped a bowl, did I wake you?" she asked, looking apologetic. Ric smiled easily.
"Yeah, no. it's fine." he said, walking into the kitchen as he grabbed his jacket. Elena raised an eyebrow.
"Going somewhere?" she asked and he nodded.
"Yeah I uh.. I need a drink." he said simply before walking out the door.
