I'm seeing a pattern lately: I always get things up weeks after I say they'll be up. I'M SO SORRY, KITTY!
Anywho. This was written in my notebook for Destiny Kitty's birthday on July 9, a whole week ago. So, happy (obscenely belated) birthday to Destiny Kitty! Hope you enjoy this!
Disclaimer: I'm here. I'm broke. Do the math, people. I don't own Beyblade.
People Watching
Tala looked out the window of the bus and felt his mood sink a little lower at the grey, damp morning outside. If there was one thing that could bring his mood down a few notches, it was the weather. Sighing, he looked back inside the vehicle, letting his eyes course over his fellow passengers. Bryan and Max sat in the seat ahead of him, talking quietly about Max's mom and her reaction when she found out about them, the older teen seething in anger over something she'd said. The two had been together for several months before being found out by Mathilda, of all people. Mathilda told Miguel, despite being threatened with death if she ratted them out, and Miguel told Kai, a good friend of his since the Barthez incident, who casually mentioned the silver-haired Russian's own relationship to him at breakfast the next day. Despite the challenges they'd had to face, from orchestrating Bryan's release from the abbey to Max's brush with a life-threatening lung infection, their relationship had stood uncommonly strong; the two had just celebrated their first anniversary last month.
Across the aisle of the city bus, a girl with a canvas bag on her lap and daisies woven into her hair bopped her head along to some song only she could hear. Her eyes were closed, a blissful smile was on her lips, and her ears were devoid of earphones. Tala raised a disturbed eyebrow in her direction and let his eyes continue.
A business man several rows behind her tapped frantically on his iPhone, jumping when it rang. He tapped the screen once and started talking into an ear piece. "Hello? …No, of course she's not at home. She's staying with her sister's kids for the week. …R-really? Tonight? Oh, I have a b-business m-meeti…." He fell into a nervous silence, apparently listening to the tirade of a demanding mistress. Shaking his head at the utter stupidity of marital infidelity, he looked back at his own side of the bus.
Two rows behind him, Miguel murmured something in Kai's ear, the garnet-eyed teen resting comfortably against his shoulder. Smiling, Kai answered just as softly and leaned up to place a feather-light kiss on the Spaniard's lips. Tala rolled his eyes at the public displays of affection between the two and turned back around. The pair's first anniversary was in roughly five weeks; supposedly, Miguel was taking his sweetheart somewhere tropical for the weekend, and Kai was supposed to stay absolutely clueless until they got there. Why Ian had been informed of this anytime before the older Russian left the apartment, Tala had no idea.
Something small stirred against his left side. Looking down, he smiled at the deep green eyes looking up at him. "A penny for your thoughts," Raul asked with a small smile.
The older redhead answered his smile and kissed his petite boyfriend's forehead, his mood lifting again just seeing Raul smile. "Just people watching."
It wasn't as long as I would've liked it to be, but that aside, I'm actually semi-fond of this one, which is unheard of.
