Minerva McGonagall was used to Weasley's and Malfoy's fighting, it was as natural as the four seasons, but this was the end of the line and she wasn't going to take it anymore.
This was the third time this month she had had complaints about Rose Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy disturbing the peace at Hogwarts with their thunderous banter in the school hallways. One would think that they would at least save it until they were alone, but no they fought anywhere at any time. It was almost as if they wanted an audience.
"Ms. Weasley and Mr. Malfoy in my office now!" Minerva growled grabbing their arms and began pushing throw the think crowd. "Everyone back to your rooms!" the students hesitated. "Now!" she screamed.
She hastily pulled the two students along beside her, making the long journey from the gardens to her office. "Now you've done it Malfoy!" Rose spat. "Quiet Ms. Weasley!" Minerva snapped pushing them down into two chairs facing her desk. They all sat there in a irate silence Rose and Scorpius glaring at each other the entire time.
"Enough!" She said exasperated. "I cannot believe it has come to this! You two are some of the best students ever to walk the halls of Hogwarts, but not even you can put aside your families petty prejudices for the sake of your own education! Never in all my years of teaching at Hogwarts have I ever dealt with quarrels of this intensity! It is maddening!"
She paused to take a deep breath, then continued in a cold whisper. "Do not think that expulsion is out of the question just because of your marks and who your parents are. I will expel you from this school if need be, I won't be happy about it but I will do it."
Rose and Scorpius gave each other sympathetic looks, it seemed to her as if they were having a very intimate conversation. It went on like this for several seconds before she broke the silence yet again. "Is there anything you two care to share, like why you two seem to hate each other?" She was now just completely frustrated.
They looked at each other with miserable eyes once more and then Rose nodded as if giving Scorpius permission to say something important, which Minerva would soon find out was true.
Scorpius took a long drawn out breath and finally spoke. "The thing is professor, we don't hate each other at all. In fact we're quite found of each other." He stopped for a moment and reached over and grabbed Rose's hand, Minerva gasped. "We love each other." He turned his gaze at Rose who smiled then back to the very confused Professor.
"If you're in love than why the devil are you always in trouble for fighting?" she asked utterly flabbergasted.
"Because we don't have a choice!" Rose cried. "What do you mean you don't have a choice Ms. Weasley? Do explain I'm very interested." Rose sighed softly. "We stage fights because we don't want anyone to know. If somebody finds out we're together suddenly the whole school will find out including our families and if they find out we're done for!" Rose finished in tears, Scorpius leaned over and brushed the tears for her eyes in a very loving manner that made even Minerva feel unsettled.
"Ms. Weasley it really can't be that bad can it? Surely if you only told your parents-"
"No!" Scorpius yelled. "They simply don't understand!"
"My family always tells each other that they will love each other forever as long as they don't marry a Malfoy. And I believe it!" Rose cried again.
Minerva sat there speechless, she had never dealt with something of this nature before. It unnerved her completely. One the one hand she could chastise them for fighting at all, but in her heart she knew it was wrong. So she chose the latter to help, she knew eventually it might blow up in their faces but she couldn't not help their lovers plight.
"You may go." She said softly. They both stood stunned "Oh and next time, try to tone it down a notch." She winked.
