Oliver Wood, the Gryffindor Keeper, thinks Harry James Potter is the most beautiful thing he has ever laid eyes upon. Even more beautiful than the Quidditch Cup. He's also sure everyone agrees with his opinion. He's seen Ginny Weasley watching him from within the shadows and he's heard the comments Cho Chang has made about him. He's heard the dirty bathroom sayings.

It seems to him that Harry is the Snitch that everyone wishes to catch. He soars swiftly through the corridors and classrooms, face golden with adolescent laughter as Ronald tells him some foolish joke about Snape, Hermione eternally at their side.

Oliver cannot help but smile. Harry smiles back.

His heartbeat quickens in anticipation, thumping wildly inside his chest. It's that simple, it's that complex. The moment has arrived at last. Just a few more seconds and he can stretch out his hand; reach for that brilliant golden object. It's that simple. He just has to reach for it.

Another second passes by and Oliver thinks it's like a Muggle movie. One of those moments where they slow everything down and you see the main character meet the eyes of his love interest, their eyes connecting over the distance. They share something profound and meaningful without the need of words.

There's a whooshing of white noise within his ears, a thundering echo. It's almost like he's flying on a broomstick, the wind whistling like a thousand voices as he becomes airborne, going higher and higher in search of the Snitch which eludes his sharp eyes.

Oliver reaches.

But the Snitch is soaring farther and farther into the sky and Oliver cannot catch up with its butterfly-fast wings. Soon the moment is over. Oliver is left plummeting to the ground, crashing into reality. There's a reason he became a Keeper.

He was never good at catching anything.
