Italy lifted the curtains to look out of Germany's house and sighed. Germany was outside trying to start the lawnmower. It was a hot summer afternoon and Germany mowed half the yard before he started to sweat, so he pulled off his green tank, leaving only his dog tag against his bare chest. Italy's eyes grew wide as he stared at the toughly built German. He suddenly burst into song:

"I-a threw a wish in the well, don't ask me I'll never tell, I looked to you as I-a fell, but I'm still in the way.
I'd trade my-a soul for a wish, pasta and pizza for a kiss, I-a wasn't looking for this…but now I-a can't resist.
Your-a stare was holding, ripped up, skin was showing, hot in here, wind wasn't blowing.
Where you-a think you-a going, Luddy?"

Germany turned his head to look at the house, and Italy fell to the floor, so he wouldn't see him. Germany smiled and shook his head, while Italy crawled out the room. Germany continued to mow the lawn. Italy quietly continued his song:

"Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy. But I'm not the tomato box fairy, so spare me maybe?
It's hard to reach you, standing on toes now, but we are allies, so I'll call you later?

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me maybe?
And all the other countries, try to chase me, but here's my number, so save me maybe?"

Germany leaned into the open hood of his Mercedes, with ear buds on. Prussia and Japan pushed Italy outside with a bucket full of soapy water and a sponge. Italy hesitated as he looked back and Prussia and Japan went back inside. Italy shrugged and started to wash the cooper wagon. He smiled when he saw Germany.

"You took your time returning my call, I-a took no time with the fall, you gave me nothing at all, but I'm still in the way.
I eat and sleep and wave my flag, thought you wouldn't be mad, I didn't know I would feel it, but now I'm in the way.
Your stare wasn't holding, ripped up, intimidating, hot in here, wind was blowing.
HEY! WHERE'D YOU PUT THE PASTA, LUDDY?!"

Italy tried to get Germany's attention while he washed the cooper wagon, but to not avail. So he tried posing like a supermodel on the car and smiling and throwing the sponge above him in the air, but nothing seemed to work. Italy frowned. Germany was too involved in his mechanical and musical work.

And all the other countries, try to invade me, but here's my number, so save me maybe?

Before you came into my life, I'd miss you so bad, miss you so bad, miss you so so bad.
Germany became my ally, he became my friend, and you should know that, he became my best best friend..."

Finally, when it seemed like Italy should give up, Germany double-glanced at Italy, and smiled and shook his head. Italy was on his stomach on the hood of the cooper wagon, smiling and waxing it. Suddenly, Italy fell off the cooper wagon!

"It's hard to look right, at you, Luddy! But if you'd bend down, I'd reach you maybe?"

Italy had a weird dream about Germany and him, and woke up to Germany leaning above him, smiling. Italy's focus returned and he was a little surprised at first, but then they started laughing. Germany held out a hand for Italy to take and helped him up.

"Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me maybe?
And all the other countries, try to chase me, but here's my number, so save me maybe?

Before you came into my life, I'd miss you so bad, miss you so bad, miss you so so bad.
Germany became my ally, he became my friend, and you should know that.

Germany, call me maybe?"

Germany never returns his calls…
