Christmas Night

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Vala had rambled on and on all the way up the elevator, through the corridors, out the tunnel, and into the car.

Daniel indicated the seat belt, grinned, set the presents in Vala's lap, shut the door, and with a rattled shake of his head went around to the driver's side. "Maybe we can beg off and go to my place," he said as he got in behind the wheel.

"Ha! Not likely." Vala didn't look at him, just shook her head. "As much as I'd like to spend all of my Christmas in your bed, Samantha would never forgive us. I suppose one night won't matter, but after that, Daniel, you are all mine…understood?"

"Right." Daniel started the engine, rubbed the bridge of his nose and happily wondered what the hell had he gotten himself into by falling prey to one tiny sprig of mistletoe.

She rattled on and he half listened as he drove, his mind playing the scene over and over. It should have been a simple Christmas friendly kiss. But once he'd touched those man eater lips of hers, he was done for. And then, then he'd made love to her. Right there in her quarters, whispering words of love.

"Really, darling. I never expected more then to steal one small kiss. However, now that I've been thoroughly and unabashedly ravished and now that we've confessed our love, well, I can't go back to being friends. Not now. Oh, Daniel! The way your body feels and moves and looks and acts and you're just so strong and well, hot! I've never been so...so...I've never had such a...ah..well, darling what's that word?." The faster she talked the more her voice sounded agitated.

"What has gotten into you?" he pulled into Sam's driveway behind Mitchell's truck and turned to see that Vala's eyes had started to tear up. Concerned, he asked softly, "what?"

The Christmas lights on the house illuminated the car interior with a gentle glow. "I'm terrified. I'd rather burn at the stake...again...then hurt you." Scooting over closer, Vala leaned against him and sighed when he put an arm around her shoulder. "I fought very hard to stay un-in love with you, thinking that's what you wanted. I came to understand why we couldn't be...fraternizing as they say, while on one team. And I don't know what to do. I can't...I could never not love you, not now. I could never stop being in your arms. How are we going to hide this? I'm not sure even I could pull that off."

"Shhh." Daniel kissed her, completely wrapping her in his arms. "Stop worrying, we'll figure this out. We've got time, no one will know for a while." His mouth found hers, murmuring words of eternal love while he kissed her hungrily.

Caught in the cocoon of the car, completely oblivious to their surroundings, time seemed to stand still as the kiss grew more passionate.

In the house, a small gathering stood at the window watching them.

"Well, hell. That's trouble." Cam shook his head.

"That's a pile of paperwork for you and me, Mitchell." Jack pointed at the couple in the car with his beer bottle.

Sam laid a hand on Jack's arm. "I knew something was going on! I just knew it!"

"I believe DanielJackson and ValaMalDoran will indeed have a Merry Christmas...and it is about damned time." When the group turned as one in astonishment, Teal'c raised a brow and smiled.
