Sacrifice
He was the kid
That made everyone run
He was the kid
That was always having fun
He lived all alone
With only his friends as a guide
They admired his freedom
He only wanted to hide
He was overprotective
But that you'd never know
He tried hard not to show it
But that habit started long ago
There was that little boy
Only a year younger
That he began to see
As his own little brother
The little boy was small
And was afraid of his own home
The little boy was timid
Even with the open town to roam
He took the boy under his wing
And tried to teach him right
"Be tough like me," he said
"And you'll always be alright."
He let that boy too close
Like he promised himself he never would
And just like all the others
The boy fled his own childhood
The pain was all too much
Too much for him to bear
So he followed the small boy away
And with him he brought his care
He saw his boy again soon
He was so happy he had to cry
He never exactly realized
To be happy he'd had to die
This is the first time I've tried writing poetry so any feedback at all would be amazing. Thanks, hope you liked it.
