The Man on the Moon
Gary Smith has issues. Maybe he wasn't crazy before, but being locked up for so long can really mess with a person's mind. He wants an escape. He craves an answer. But in the end, he only needs one thing: A fix.
Prologue; Mary Jane
* * *
The night was young, but the storm was only just beginning. Gary Smith walked through it all, clutching his cheap flannel shirt to his neck as the wind fiercely blew the blizzard in his uncovered face. And he would keep walking, no matter how much pain his abused body would have to endure.
For over an hour he had been walking, non stop in what felt like absolute zero. His thighs burned under the denim he wore, crisp and cold from the winter air, and his ears felt as frozen as the dead city around him. His toes, hidden in nothing but a crappy pair of worn out socks and dirtied white Nike's, were feeling so numb that the pain was endless. Indeed, the cold would just not end.
But even still, Gary kept moving. His only motivation?
Mary Jane.
She was waiting for him, as he had been waiting for so long. Too long.
What he would give for just a whiff of her sickly sweet scent. She called to him, just as she did every day during his two years of being locked up. Two years, that would have been an even worse hell if it had not been for Mary Jane and her seductive prowess.
As he trucked through the blizzard, his only thoughts were those of his favorite thing in the whole world. He craved her more than revenge, more than power, more than anything. And in order to get her, all he had to do was walk.
This walk would have been easier, if he had been able to afford a winter jacket this year. But sadly, no. He was only just released, and any pennies he had to spare were put towards one thing; A fix.
However much he could afford, he would buy. But again, first he had get there.
Where, you might be wondering?
Well, to the very place his life was ruined. His old school; Bullworth Academy. Funny, before the Asylum, Bullworth seemed like the worst hell on the planet. Now, going there was almost an honor. He couldn't help but smile, though it pained his ice cold cheeks. He loved the thought of feeling free once again, and just one dose of Mary Jane and he would be satisfied. At least, for a little while.
Surely he would have been able to get a hold of Mary Jane in his part of town. In fact, Blue Skies and New Coventry were the top places for her to be found. But he was being forced to return to Bullworth Academy to catch up on his high school years missed, and graduate from the hell hole. He wondered how all of his old acquaintances were doing. Bad, hopefully, but as long as she was there he didn't give two fucks who he was hanging around with. Feelings of revenge towards people like Jimmy and Petey had subsided, but only moderately. Hatred towards them still burned through his veins, but now, there was something more important for him to deal with...
Finally, he exited the area of New Coventry. He'd become familiar with the place this past while; It was the dark side of town, but not nearly as dark as Blue Skies, the industrial part in which he had a love/hate relationship with. He'd grown close to Mary Jane there, welcomed her into his life and let her take over. The place meant a lot to him, but it was a dump. Then again, how nice can an industrial park get?
Bullworth wasn't far now. A devious smirk crossed his lips as he thought, they better be ready.
Author's note: Hey everyone, thanks for reading! I know I have a lot of stories on going right now, but this idea just wouldn't leave me alone. (:
