A/N- Here's a little bit on the parts not mentioned in the episode Sectionals. I actually wanted Mike to break out and steal the spotlight, but that's a little too egotistic for him.
Disclaimer: You know the drill. I don't own it.
Glee Club Miracle
The whole Glee club sat in the preparation room with a defeated air. The other two teams were performing their songs! THEIRS! How could they go on now? The judges would think they had copied when it was really the other way around.
Everyone had given up, one extra useless Jew-froed member and all. Then a miracle happened.
It wasn't clear who looked up first, instinctively sensing someone in the doorway, but soon they had all realized Finn was there. For a moment it felt like no one was breathing, then Finn gave his strange almost smile and began his motivational spiel.
"Mike, Brittany, Matt, Santana, we'll need you to cobble together some choreography. You're our best dancers. Come up with something quick and we'll follow your lead."
The four immediately gathered around a blueprint of the stage that was mysteriously in the room as the other members scrambled to their own tasks, Jew-fro staying where he had been shuffled- into an out of the way corner.
Matt and Brittany had never had formal dance training and while Santana had, she wasn't a choreographer. Because of this, Mike naturally took the lead, trying to figure what they could realistically expect to teach the others in less than an hour.
They needed at least a little time to practice after they figured it out. It was extremely rushed coming up with the choreography for a song and a half (they'd decided Rachel would wing it for her part) in under half an hour.
When they did have it, Mike and the others set up boot camp. Considering half of the club could be considered "struggling dancers", it was a chore just to get them to remember the steps. Time was getting short, but somehow they managed it. Now Mike could only hope their raw showmanship skills could cover up their lack of perfecting.
After the second performance ended, Mike stood in his pose grinning his stage-smile and gasping for breath at the same time. Not too shabby. When Finn complimented the four after they'd received their trophies, the only thing conveying the warm pride spreading through his body was a small smile on his lips.
If you noticed anything about "the other Asian" at all, it was usually that he was modest and never felt the need to claim the credit that he was due. He remained under the radar for the next two years precisely because of this. In Glee he was simply known as the background singer who had a few moves and the friend that liked to goof around.
When Mike was accepted to Julliard just before graduation only Matt, Santana, and Brittany weren't utterly floored. The rest of the world would soon find out what they'd first been witness to at that sectionals competition two years ago.
