The sun came through the windows of his car as he drove. It was a pleasant day. Sunny, pleasant temperatures, and quiet. Even the engine seemed to be quiet. Looking around Kurt decided that it was too good a day to be driving in the city, surrounded by buildings. So, he went to the countryside.

Once there, he enjoyed the scenery. You just can't get this on a busy street. It made him miss the days when he, Markie and his parents would drive around, just for the sake of driving.

Sometimes, he'd be back there reading a book for school. After finishing a chapter, he would look up. Out the window he saw green fields with horses, cows, maybe even goats, grazing peacefully in the early afternoon sun. Everyone was quiet. It was peaceful. His parents up front, talking in hushed voices, Markie beside him nodding off. Every once in a while, a car would pass them. But it all blended in. Almost like the world was just dozing. Nothing bothered anyone.

Coming back to the present, he looked at the time. 5:00. He probably should get back. But up ahead…those pleasant memories stopped him.

He pulled over. It was one of those places you'd see, if you were on a long trip, and a little section was on the side where you could pull over and have a picnic, looking over a bluff.

He remembered this spot. Every summer, two or three times, they'd come up and have lunch on a Sunday. Getting out, he saw farmland stretch before him. Beyond that the city buildings towered against the evening sky.

Yeah, he remembered this spot. Oh to be a kid again. That would be grand. Everything in your own little world is perfect. And on sunny days like today, time slows down, so you can enjoy the piece and quiet. Enjoy creation. Remember who put you there. Who loves you. Loves you enough to give a beautiful day like today, to, what it seems like, you.
