Tea Time

The table was set; trays of sweets and cakes, cups and teapots gallor, and of course many seats were lining the table with its white cloth. But only three of these many seats were ever filled... usually. Twice there had been a girl in blue to take up a spot, but that never lasted long. On an occasion or two there had been a white rabbit in a waistcoat who sat in the seat nearest to the gate, but he was always to worried about the time to stay long. There had even been a moment when the White Queen sat in one of these seats, it was to visit an old friend. But did any of these companions fill an empty seat at the long table? Oh no. No, this fourth party was a far more regular guest.

"Good to see you made it in time for tea... Cheshire." the Mad Hatter said happily, pausing before stating the name of the cat. Cheshire smiled, evaporating and appearing in random seats before picking the one he liked. "Pleasure's mine, Hatter. Aside from seeming to have to much caffine in the system, the Hare is an incredable cook. Speaking of which, how have things been for all of you as of late, hm?" he said pleasently, selecting a tiny cup of sweet-smelling tea. The March Hare twitched, ducking under the table in a flurry of tea cups and fur as the cat appeared at his side. "Paranoid as ever, I see." Cheshire chuckled. His attention was soon directed toward the Doormouse laughing wildly in a teapot. "Not to mention completely mad..." he continued, a slight hint of distaste in his deep voice. The Mad Hatter just smiled and laughed lightly, "As a girl once told me; some of the greatest people are mad!" The cat sighed, returning to his seat to sip at the tea delicatly. "I do miss Alice dreadfully... could almost give up my right paw to have her back in Underland." Cheshire said. The Mad Hatter scowled. "Please, Chessur, non of this depressing talk at my tea table." the mad man said stearnly, only to have his guest purr in responce. "But you miss her, too, don't you? You waited ten years for her to come back and fufill her destiny on the Frabjous day, I bet you're willing to wait even longer for her to return again." Cheshire purred, expecting the Hatter to get enraged and start speaking his scottish jibberish. But instead, the Mad Hatter looked down at the cup of tea in his pale hands a little... what was it? Shyly? "Yes. I'm more than ready to wait for her to come again, no matter how long it takes... I love Alice."
