They were all a bit hesitant when The Todd excitedly announced that his brothers were coming to town. No one was quite sure if it were these brothers were biological siblings (please god no…) or some kind of "brothers" like a frat (oh god please no…).
The truth winds up being something in between… and while they're probably not genetically related (considering they look absolutely nothing alike, unless The Todd's mom was a complete whore, which is entirely possible) – there are some similarities though. Gary is a banker manager, and has the most irritating braying laugh. Tyrone is a lawyer with one of the big law firms whose handshakes and high fives have Turk questioning his blackness. Jeffrey is the owner of some web start up (unsurprisingly involving porn) and knows possibly more lewd jokes than The Todd.
He finally works up the nerve when they're in the waiting room away from Todd…
"So where you'd guys become friends with the Tood," He asks, because he has to know how three guys who, irritating personality quirks aside, have to have IQs 60 points higher than the Todd.
"We know Todd from – Oh my god is that Perry Cox?"
Soon, all three men are staring at Dr. Cox in awe; Dr. Cox is glaring back at them in stare number 67: confusion and irritation.
"Dude, Todd didn't tell us he worked with the Cox –" Tyrone says, looking as if he's met his idol or something.
They probably like football – probably were on the same team. Of course Dr. Cox was obviously on the football squad – might have had a pro-career if he hadn't decided serving medicine was more important – or maybe some tragic career ending injury –
He didn't like the way they were looking at Dr. Cox – and they had far too much in common with the man. Dr. Cox would probably take them out drinking, and then they'd all go apply to go to medical school because their god was a doctor and then Cox would of course be their mentor and –
"You guys know Dr. Cox," He asks through gritted teeth, suppressing the urge to scratch their eyes out.
"Man, we don't know him; we know of him," Gary says wistfully, "The man's a legend to all cheerleaders everywhere. He was a part of the '82 national champion squad… his triple back flip, cartwheel, front flip, back hand spring, toe touch combo is legendary. He had the meanest spirit fingers."
Dr. Cox – mean, antisocial, dream crushing Dr. Cox was a cheerleader? And not just a cheerleader, but a national champion?
The next time that Dr. Cox gets down on him for being a girl, he's totally going to use this against him.
He regrets it, later, when Dr. Cox basket tosses him up onto the overhang covering the entrance and leaves him there.
