Ever since I saw Episode 10 of The Rookie, it has fascinated me over the Captain and Lucy Chen. Others would agree, especially since the captain said Lucy impressed her. So without further ado, lets go.

Chapter One - A Surprising Date

"You've impressed me" the words from her Captain, echoed throughout Lucy's mind, as she walked out of the department to her car. She couldn't help to smile, ever since she was Zoe's boot for the day, she didn't treat her like Tim did. She understood the pain of a rookie and didn't light off like a fire over when she made mistakes.

"Officer Chen!" yelled a voice. Lucy whirled around, causing her fall from the light headiness. Luckily, the person caught her. Lucy immediately was inches from her Captain's face. "Are you okay, Officer Chen?" Zoe asked.

Lucy nodded and cleared her throat, causing Zoe to let go.

"So, what do you need Captain?" Lucy picked up her bag and looked at her Captain.

"I uh,..." Zoe hesitated. How can she ask a rookie to dinner with her when she was not only nervous but also her Senior officer? "I wanted to know if you were busy tonight" Zoe watched for Lucy's reaction.

"I... I would love that, but..." Lucy hesitated. Zoe was her Commanding officer.

"I know what you're thinking. But, there are certain perks as a Commanding Officer," Zoe smiled a toothy grin, causing Lucy to smile.

"All right" Lucy smiled and blushed.

They got into the car, not realizing Tim and Talia were watching.

"So, what happened back there, with the wife?" Lucy asked.

"It's not what you think," Zoe answered.

Lucy gave her a confused look. "Then tell me" she replied.

Zoe sighed.

"When I was in the Military, I had a girlfriend. She was with her little brother on Field Day over in Portsmouth. A shooter came up, loaded with everything from glocks to semi - assault rifles and lit the field up. Among those dead were my girlfriend and her little brother. I didn't know about it until I got back from overseas," The terrible memory of her girlfriend, caused Zoe to tear up.

Lucy put a comforting hand on Zoe's knee and looked at her. "I'm so sorry, you had to go through that" she whispered quietly, but Zoe heard and smiled.

"Thanks. Come on, we're here" Zoe replied and got out of the car with Lucy.

Something confused Lucy. "Where are we?" she asked.

"You'll see" was the only answer she had gotten from her Captain.

With a moment of hesitation, she followed Zoe inside, and realized she brought them to a pub. She then saw a familiar celebrity, one she never thought of meeting in person.

"Is that...?" she trailed off, still not believing her eyes of who was in front of her.

"The one and only. Hey, old timer" she smiled at Lucy, before walking over to the one and only, Chef Ramsey. They hugged each other and laughed as if they were old friends. Zoe motioned the rookie to come over, and she obeyed.

"Hello, love. Any friends of Zoe, is an old friend of mine" Gordon said with a British accent, before kissing both of her cheeks.

"Which also means," Zoe started, "he'll take good care of you. The way he did with me" she smiled warmly at Gordon, who smiled back, and ushered them to take a seat at an unoccupied table.

Once he left, to see if the other customers were comfortable, Lucy turned to Zoe.

"Why didn't you tell me?" she quietly exclaimed, causing her Captain to chuckle.

"It was a surprise, Officer Chen. Besides, he was ecstatic I had finally moved on, after so long" At those words, her smile fell, as did her voice. "Excuse me" she said, not waiting an answer from Lucy, as she went to the restroom.

Lucy watched her go before spotting Gordon watching. She gave him a confused look, and he gave her a thin smile, before walking over and sitting down.

"What's wrong?" Lucy asked, concern lacing her voice.

Gordon sighed, before rubbing his face with his hands.

"Back then after the day of the shooting, she was a miserable wreck. She was bloody depressed, drinking constantly, hanging around with the wrong crowd; simply because she couldn't help it," he started, his eyes starting to swell with tears. Lucy's mouth was agape. She didn't realize her Captain, her captain went through such a loss that it made her emotionally break.

"One day, she ended up in a bar in desperate need of my help. She was drinking, and stank of alcohol. When I asked her to leave, she punched me," he pointed at his nose, causing Lucy to helplessly hold in her laughter. Gordon rolled his eyes. "Go ahead. When I told her the next morning, she didn't leave it alone after that" he finished.

"So, that's how you two met?" Lucy asked.

"Amongst other impeccable timings, boot" Zoe's voice startled the rookie.

"Well, I better leave you two at it with your date" the brit acknowledged. Lucy didn't contain the smile, and Zoe didn't correct him, as he left.

"So, tell me about yourself, boot" Zoe smirked at the scoff she got in return.

"Are you always going to call me that?" the young rookie crossed her arms and leaned back in her seat.

"I like it. It's cute...boot" At that, Lucy threw her arms up in exasperation.

Outside in the parking lot, two russians were watching with concentration.

"Call it in, Boise" the driver said, causing the younger one to obey.

"Boss, we found her. She's with another girl...a hispanic american...Understood, boss. No trace of our kills" he looked at the driver, who drove away.

Talia and Simon walked a little after the car, unseen. They looked at each other.
