AN: Hello there friends. So this is my first fanfiction. I've totally redone and repurposed this story, but the plot is still the same. I mainly fixed the descriptions and dialogues that made me cringe, added in some stuff that could use explaining, took out some stuff that wasn't really necessary, and made it flow better. I also changed it to present tense. It would probably be best to reread it, because there are A LOT of changes, but it isn't completely necessary to understand the newer chapters, which will be coming out soon. I would still recommend rereading it, though.

It's just an ordinary day at West Creek High. Most of the high school students are currently playing soccer, as per usual. The sun shines its hot, Californian rays of light onto the half-dead grass. The non-athletic kids are found in random places surrounding the field.

All in all, it seems as if nothing out of the ordinary is going to happen today. Or so everybody thinks.

Kristie and Misty are sitting on a fence not too far from where their classmates are playing. All the students at West Creek think that the girls are completely normal, and that nothing strange ever happens to them. Boy, are they wrong. But, you can't really blame them. Who would even begin to believe what crazy things that the two sisters do every summer?

The girls soon get tired of watching the boring soccer game, and decide to go relax with their friends somewhere else. They quickly maneuver their way around the game and start walking toward the 12th grade lockers, where they usually meet with their friends.

As they round the corner of the building, they see Tessa, James, Will, and Noah sitting by Misty's locker. Just to clarify, Misty and James are both in 12th grade, Tessa is in 11th grade, and Kristie, Will, and Noah are in 10th grade.

"How's the game going?" Noah asks. He's always had a large interest in soccer.

"4:1. The seniors are winning, as per usual," Misty replies while hi fiving James (they're both seniors and their grade has a lot of pride).

Sighing in disappointment, Noah leans back against the lockers.

"So, do you guys wanna hang out after school?" Tessa asks.

However, she doesn't recieve an answer; a bright flash of light appears and draws the students attention.

They shield their eyes; however, when they can finally see again, they can't believe where they are. Trees so tall, they can barely see the top. Crisp air not affected by pollution. Birds singing in the breeze. Not at all where the students were just a few moments ago. And when the look at each other, they notice that everyone is wearing strange, unfamiliar clothing. Needless to say the six students are pretty perplexed (and slightly terrified)

All, that is, except for Kristy and Misty.

"Guys," Will starts tentatively. "W-where the hell are we?"

"Kris!" Misty quietly shouts, motioning for her sister to join her a few feet away from their friends.

"I'll be right back," Kristie tells the others.

"I don't understand," Kristie whispers once they are out of earshot. "Why are we here? We aren't supposed to come back here until next summer."

"I know," replies Misty, looking around suspiciously. "And why are our friends here? Something's definitely not right. I say we find Gandalf." Kristie curtly nods her head in agreement.

Gandalf, the girls' mentor for the past six years, always helped them when they were confused during their time in Middle Earth.

The girls still cannot figure out why they were sent to Middle Earth in the first place. It was a normal summer; Kristie was going into fourth grade and Misty was going into sixth, when they were suddenly whisked into a new world. According to Gandalf they were sent because "they needed to train and learn so they would be able to face their destiny." Whatever the hell that means. Misty is still perturbed that Gandalf refuses to tell them the specific details.

Misty interrupts her train of thought and remarks, "I'll go take a look around. See if I can figure out where we are. Maybe you can calm down our friends over there? Most of them look like they're about to faint."

She runs over to the nearest tree and begins climbing up and up, until Kristie can barely see her sister anymore. Misty has always been a very good climber, Kristie notes. It's as if she's part squirrel or something.

Kristie tears her eyes away from the tree and turns to her four petrified friends. "Okay, guys. I know you're all really confused right now, but the key thing is to just remain calm." She starts to continue but then notices that Misty is almost all the way down the tree that she climbed. "Wait up for a moment and we're gonna figure out what to do."

Kristie walks over to her sister. "Well?"

"I think I saw Gandalf going into Hobbiton. That way." Misty points toward a random clump of trees. Kristie starts to walk in that direction, when Misty grabs her arm. "But, we've got trouble."

"Oh god, what kind of trouble?" asks Kristie, annoyed at the fact that they can't even have a few moments of peace.

"Orcs."

"Orcs? Oh, that's just great. How the hell are we supposed to protect our friends, who've never raised a sword in their life, from a pack of Orcs?"

"Easy," Misty replies smoothly. "There's a cave a couple hundred yards that way."

"Well. That's convenient." Kristie walks over to their friends and briefly explains the situation. Misty, meanwhile, looks around and makes sure that there aren't any Orcs hiding nearby.

"Misty, lead the way." Equipping her bow and arrow, which was conveniently at her feet when they appeared in the forest, Kristie takes up the rear of the group.

Up at the front, Misty pulls out her two swords, which were also conveniently at her feet, and looks around one last time.

Finally, Tessa had enough of all the confusing and vague explanations, and decides to get answers for herself.

"Explain," she orders Misty.

"You're going to have to be a little more specific," Misty replies, still looking around for trouble.

"Where are we?"

Misty thinks for a minute. Should she hide this from Tessa, her best friend, or should she tell the truth to put her mind at ease? She finally chooses to take the latter option. "Well, you guys are probably gonna need to know this eventually. We're in Middle Earth."

"Wait, wasn't that in a book?" James asks.

Misty thinks hard. Now that he mentioned it, she does remember reading about a place called Middle Earth when she and Kristie were children. But, she can't remember any of the details of the story.

"Huh," Kristie replies. "I think you're right." Apparently Kristie can't remember either.

"Okay . . ." Tessa says skeptically. "Well, where are we going?"

"Well, right now we're headed to a cave. It should be right about . . . here!" Misty says as the cave appears in her sight.

Kristie walks toward her sister and faces her friends, who are slightly more relaxed now that they know they'll be getting answers soon.

"Now here's where it gets interesting. Right now there are a bunch of evil creatures nearby that will not hesitate to rip your lungs out. We," gesturing to herself and her sister, "want to avoid you guys being killed. So, you need to follow us into the cave. Once we're in far enough, Misty and I will go back out and make sure the coast is clear. Sound good?"

The teenagers are silent. Given that one of their closest friends just told them there is a large chance of being killed, it is understandable. After hesitantly nodding, they start to follow the sisters into the cave.

Finally, they stop at a clearing near the back of the cave. With a quick glance at each other, the sisters head back towards the entrance.

"Hey!" Tessa yells while grabbing both the girls' wrists. "Be careful." A smile appears onto Kristie's face, and the girls rush off. After a few moments of tense silence, a howl sounds in the distance.
