PATRICK
She was so so beautiful.
How had he not noticed that?
When they met on the island, he had found her pretty enough and if he had been ready, maybe something would have happened between them.
But of course, after he found out she was working for Abbott, she lost all her attraction and he was angry for a long time.
But for the last few days, he had been unable to get her out of his mind.
The full lips and bosom. The glacial cheekbones. The dark eyes and hair. The long slim legs.
His body was tortured by thoughts of her.
He couldn't keep his eyes off of her when he was with her.
And he couldn't keep his dreams free of her when he was alone at night.
Kim. What am I going to do about you?
TERESA
Teresa squinted into her bathroom mirror.
It seemed like yesterday she saw bright eyes and rosy cheeks.
But in the last day or two, her usual bright green seemed faded and her pale skin chalky.
There were deep wrinkles on either side of her mouth she swore weren't there yesterday.
Today, she was supposed to partner with Jane on a cold case they were both interested in. They hadn't worked together in a while and she was looking forward to it.
As she drove in to work, she began to feel feverish. In the space of half an hour, she went from a little peaked to definitely sick.
She dragged herself off the elevator. Jane saw her and immediately rushed to her side. Kim came forward with a glass of water. Wylie pushed a chair toward her.
Abbott took one look and sent her home.
He had Wylie drive her and assigned Kim to investigate the cold case with Jane.
After Wylie got her settled at home, Teresa looked in the mirror again. She was getting a pimple on her chin and the little mole on her jaw had sprouted a hair.
KIM
She sat in her office with a slight smile on her face.
She slid open her bottom desk drawer and took out the wand.
She closed her eyes, concentrated on what she wanted to happen today and waved it. One, two, three.
She put it back in her drawer and left.
Patrick would be waiting in the Airstream.
