Bubbles
Despite the fact that it was a glorious spring day, Molly Weasley couldn't get her five children to go outside and enjoy the weather. There was a crash from upstairs.
"Fred! George!" she called; her voice rose, filling up the entire house. Percy only averted his eyes from his book for a second. The twins and Ron all stumbled into the kitchen half walking and half wrestling. Ron tripped on one of Ginny's dolls and fell on top of her. Right away, she began to wail at the top of his lungs. Mrs. Weasley slammed down the pan in her hand in obvious frustration. "That's it, I can't take it anymore! Everyone outside!" Percy slammed his book closed.
"But Mum, I didn't do anything!" he whined. Fred and George made faces at him. She glared at the twins.
"I don't care, everyone out! It's a beautiful day outside. You can reach your book outside, okay?" Huffing, the four youngest Weasley trooped outside while Ginny sat on the floor sniffling. Being the baby of the family, she knew exactly how to get all the attention she wanted. Mrs. Weasley plucked up her precious daughter and cuddled her in her motherly arms. "Are you okay, Ginerva?" Ginny rubbed her eyes with her fists.
"Uh-huh," she mumbled. Mrs. Weasley put her down and patted her butt playfully.
"Good, now go outside and play." Ginny let out a squeal before scurrying outside to joining her brothers.
Outside, Percy was sitting in the shade of the large oak tree reading his book while Fred hung upside down from one of the higher branches taunting him while George cheered him on. Ron sat away from his older brothers with a bottle of bubbles Bill and Charlie had given him for his birthday. Ginny went over and plopped down on the soft grass next to him.
"I'm sorry for falling on you, Gin," he said. She smiled at her big brother, letting him know that everything was alright.
"Can I play with you?" she asked.
"Sure." He unscrewed the lid to the bubbles and pulled out the plastic wand. "What do you want me to make?"
It was a rare occasion that Mr. Weasley was home before dinner. His wife was so surprised to see him Apparate in the kitchen.
"Hello dear," he said before pecking her on the cheek. The silence in the house was deafening and smothering. Right away, he took notice to it. "Where are the kids?"
"I made them go play outside, they had too much energy for me to handle."
"By 'they' you mean Fred and George, right?"
"And Ron." She paused for a second. "Why don't you go out with them? I'm sure they'd like that." A smile spread across his face. He gave his wife one last kiss before going outside to join his children.
By now Fred and George were having target practice throwing acorns at gnomes in the nearby garden instead of teasing their brother, who was still reading. This identical faces lit up when they saw Mr. Weasley.
"Dad!" they exclaimed in unison as they scrambled out of the tree. Fred landed less than gracefully on Percy.
"Get off, Fred!" he announced as he shoved his brother off of him. Mr. Weasley gave the twins each a hug and ruffled their hair playfully. His attention then turned to Ginny who was laughing like mad as Ron blew a bubble in the shape of a frog. Several other animals floated in the air around them. She looked up and smiled. As soon as she saw Mr. Weasley, she got up and leapt into his arms.
"Hi Daddy!" she exclaimed cheerfully.
"Hi Princess, were you good today?" She nodded enthusiastically, causing her braided pigtails to thump against her back.
"Uh-huh, Ron makes bubbles!"
"I noticed." He kissed her cheek softly and made a mental note to come home from work early more often.
