"Hey," Dean said in concern as he entered Castiel's room. The other man was curled up in the fetal position, rocking back and forth slowely. "You okay?" Dean asked.

"Yes." Although Cas's eyes said differently.

"Really?" Dean asked, studying him knowingly. There was a clap of thunder and Cas involuntarily flinched. Dean shook his head with a knowing smile. "Really?" He asked again. "That storm outside isn't bothering you at all?"

"No." Cas replied steadily. His eyes widened as a flash of lightening that lit up his window. There was a horrendus clap of thunder and Cas jumped. If Dean looked close enough, he could see fear in Cas's eyes.

"Hey, it's allright." Dean murmered, reverting back to the soft, calm voice he's used on Sammy as a child. He sat beside Cas as they heard another clap of thunder. "It's just a thunder storm Cas." Dean hesitantly placed a hand on the other's shoulder and smiled. "How the hell could you of all people be afraid of a little thunder and lightening?"

Cas hung his head in shame. "I'm sorry-"

"Hey, it's allright Cas. I didn't mean it like that, everyone's afraid of something." A lightening strike appeared by the window and Cas clutched onto Dean. "Hey, it's allright." Dean reassured him, wrapping his arms around Cas and trying to forget how much he liked it. "You know what I was told when I was a kid? That thunder was just God bowling."

"That doesn't make me feel any better." Cas muttered. "God doesn't like to bowl." He buried his head against Dean's shoulder and Dean tried to think about anything other than Castiel's hot breath on his neck.

Cas let out a whimper at the next lightening flash and Dean had an idea. He detangled himself from Cas and covered the window with a dark blankett. "Better?" He asked as he retook his seat. Cas nodded slightly but at the next roll of thunder jumped. Dean pulled Cas close, on a whim really. All he wanted to do was comfort the poor thing. Purely platonic intentions. Cas let out a small sigh and leaned into Dean. Slowely, with him snuggled up to Dean, Cas's tremours slowed. Then there were none at all.

Dean smiled softly when he realized that Cas had fallen asleep. He gently pulled Cas tighter against him and felt happy. Honestly happy. Of all the times he had imagined this, Cas falling asleep next to him, he could never have dreamed how perfect it felt. He knew in the morning they would be akward around each other. Cas would surely blame his his childlike need to be comforted on the storm that had been raging outside, but Dean didn't mind. For now, this would be enough.
