She finds color in the darkest places
Severus doesn't know why Lily is still standing by him. She should've walked away from him years ago, but she hasn't. She's stuck beside him through thick and thin. And he knows, deep down inside of him, that he doesn't deserve a girl like her. He's too far gone to be saved.
He's been consumed by the darkness that plagues the world around them for so long that there's no saving him. Yet, she tries as hard as she can. That's his favorite thing about her – her determination. She's determined to save him from the world, from himself; because somehow, she sees the good in even the worse of people – and that's no exception for him.
She sees the good that is in him, that he can do. But he knows he will never live up to her expectations. When he tries to push her away, her only excuse is, "I can't give up on somebody I love." And that makes him feel guilty. He doesn't deserve her love because the dark will always overshadow the light in his life, overshadow her.
In the end, he does find the good within himself – the good Lily always said was there. But it was too late to make a difference in their doomed romance.
A/n – This was my first attempt at LilySeverus but I have to say this is one of my favorite stories I've ever written. Again, written for the 7 songs, 7 drabbles, 7 days challenge.
Please, please don't favorite without reviewing.
