Always and Forever

Adrenaline pumping.

Hearts racing.

Images flashing by.

We're running and laughing freely.

Air whips through our auburn hair as we bound down the corridors, our laughs bouncing off the old, stone walls. The joyous eruptions echo through the halls, giving away our position, but we don't care.

We never care.

Around a bend and we continue our victory lap. In the distance we can hear the caretaker yelling out commands for us to stop, but we don't.

We never do.

Now there are other students, leaving their classrooms, unaware of the spectacular events that just took place. We weave through them, still laughing, still running. Some are angry from our pushes and others are curious by our actions. They watch us sprint down the passages, our excitement flowing out to them. But our energy is lowering, our strides are shorter, our breathing heavy.

But we never stop laughing.

We never do.

We come to a halt in a deserted hallway on the fifth floor. Stitches in our sides, muscles burning, chests ready to explode, we slide down the wall and sit on the cold, hard floor. We wait for the caretaker to come and punish us like he always does, but we could care less.

We always do.

Large smiles are plastered on our faces as we try to catch the breath that has left us. I reach over and take his hand in mine, lacing our fingers together. Our symbol of unity. Me and Fred.

My Fred.

Some people ask me what I would do without him. I don't ever think about it because it's impossible. We'll never be apart. We'll always be together, together forever. Until the end of time, it's going be me and him.

Some people ask 'Don't you get tired of always being together?'

'Never', I answer.

How can I tire of the one who knows me better than I know myself? He's my best friend. He knows everything about me; we share all our secrets, and all our fears. How can we not when we were born together, brought into this world at the same time? I love him more than I love myself, he's that important to me.

He's my other half and without him I am incomplete. Why would I ever want to be separated? I don't want to be broken; I want to be whole.

Me and Fred. That's how it has been and that's how it will be. Always and forever.

We hear the staggered footsteps of the caretaker coming ever closer, bringing with him impending doom. We just laugh.

We always do.

The portly Mr. Gripe comes huffing around the corner, robes hanging off his shoulders, sweat dripping down his face. The bringer of bad news looks more comical than anything else.

"There…you…are," he wheezes, holding on to his side and walking towards us.

We look at each other, the same mischievous glint in our identical hazel eyes. Our smiles widen as unspoken words are transferred. Mr. Gripe comes closer; he is mere feet from us. With the same bout of renewed energy, we jump up and begin to run again. Hand in hand, we dash through the halls.

Our breezy laughs fill the air of the castle again, nearly drowning out the caretaker's final threat "Fred and Roxanne Weasley! Wait 'til I get my hands on you!"

He'll never catch us.

He never will.

Not this time.

No one can get us because we're unstoppable, Fred and me.

Always and forever.
