Jason looked up from his drawing and pushed up his glasses, checking the basketball score. He heard the crowd cheer and scream, the people around him were clapping and fist pumping as the timer began to buzz.
"I missed you," said Jason as he closed the door behind him, smiling at his roommate. He leaned forward for a kiss but got pushed away by a towel smacking his face.
"I'm gonna go take a shower, you better be ready in five minutes for some good action."
He rolled his eyes and watched as Peter walked towards the bathroom; Jason wished that Peter wouldn't act like a complete asshole when he was wasted. Jason had everything planned in a short five bulleted list for what they would do if St. Cecilia's won the game tonight. But, of course, Peter getting high like empire state building wasn't written on his note pad.
"Why can't we act like a normal couple, Petey? That's all I want." Jason whined as he lay on Peter's chest, hearing his heart beat. He sat up as Peter groaned and rolled his eyes, grabbing a pillow to cover his face.
"Jase, you know why. I'm popular and you're just some math geek to the school population. But not to me, you're perfect."
"Well you don't act like it."
Peter rolled over on the side of his bed and covered himself under the covers; he really didn't need to deal with Jason's romantic issues tonight. He just won a basketball game; Peter wished his relationship issues could be solved like his sister's: a hug and a kiss could lead to Trudy moaning two minutes later.
"Goodnight, asshole," whispered Jason before he went to bed, not expecting to hear Peter crying. It broke his heart into pieces but he had to act like a man and not like a puppy dog. Plus, he had a study session with Diane Lee early in the morning.
Jason wished that he could be a jock and could be friends with Peter in school but being in a relationship with him now was more painful than he expected love to be.
