CHAPTER 1

The Crash Land

OBI-WAN KENOBI AND ANAKIN SKYWALKER, the master and the student. The two were inseparable, like brothers. Obi-Wan Kenobi had taught Anakin everything he knew since he was a young boy.

When people said those names, they said it with fear and reverence. They were legends in the eyes of many. They've commanded armies, defeated daunting foes, and are the most elite Jedi duo you could ever have. They are Knights of the Jedi Order, and they intend to remain so - one way or another.

They've embarked on a highly classified mission set in order by the Jedi Council. Now all of it has come crashing down. They'll embark on a new mission, a mission they've become far too familiar with - surviving.

The shuttle burned in the atmosphere, leaving a fiery trail of fire and hot smoke. Inside the shuttle, two Jedi Knights bracing themselves before the inevitable impact.

"Great, and here I thought we were totally safe!" Anakin proclaimed as he attempted to steer the ship in his desired direction.

"Pipe down, Anakin! The both of us knew the mission was jeopardized when the whole Separatist fleet popped out of no where!" Anakin's Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi replied.

A considerably large piece of the shuttle broke off due to being unstable and the alarming speed the shuttle was traveling in.

"We lost something." Anakin said.

"Not to worry, at least we're still flying." Obi-Wan replied.

Anakin chuckled in response.

"No fleet guarding the planet there is, slip through you will." Anakin mockingly mimicked Grand Master Yoda's voice and his unusual speech pattern.

"That's quite enough, Anakin." Obi-Wan said.

The shuttle continued to blister through the atmosphere. Finally, it entered the troposphere. The shuttle approached closer to a large expanse of green grass and trees.

"There, Anakin." Obi-Wan directed his former student's attention to a clear field.

Anakin steered the shuttle towards the clear field.

"Brace yourselves!" Anakin yelled.

The shuttle crashed into the ground. The sound of the impact was like thunder to their ears. They were shot forward due to the momentum, but the seat belt kept them in place. The shuttle slewed forward, forcing grass and soil out of its way, leaving only a huge trail of soil.

The shuttle finally slowed down, then it stopped. Anakin and Obi-Wan began to breath heavily in relief. Obi-Wan glanced at Anakin and smiled.

"Another happy landing."

Anakin rested on his chair. He looked back at Obi-Wan and shot him a smile. They both began to chuckle in unison.

"Where do you think we are?" Anakin asked.

Obi-Wan inspected the galaxy map projector sitting in front of him.

"I'm not sure. Not even the map knows where we are."

The "happy" atmosphere turned into concern for Anakin.

"What do you mean?"

"It seems we've dropped into the unknown regions of the galaxy." Obi-Wan said as he further inspected the galaxy map. A look of curiosity befell him.

"How do you know for sure?"

"Don't ask me, ask the galaxy map. I'm not sure if we're even in our own galaxy anymore."

Anakin sighed and began to ponder. He began to rub his chin. He observed the surrounding land. All he saw was a grassy plain; there were no trees at all. Ahead of the plains were mountains covered with lush green.

Anakin sat up out of his chair and exited the crashed shuttle. He breathed in and embraced the fresh air. A part of Anakin was glad that they ended up here. No Republic, no Separatists, no noisy speeders, no annoying gentle beings, and no Jedi Council. Unlike what the Jedi Masters told him, this was true peace.

Obi-Wan stepped out of the shuttle with two backpacks. One strapped to his back, and one resting on his arms. He threw one at Anakin who caught it.

"Where'd you find these?" Anakin asked while inspecting the bag.

"The cargo hold." Obi-Wan answered back.

"And what do we need this for?"

"In case it takes some time for us to find civilization," Obi-Wan said as he approached Anakin, "has all the necessary survival gear."

Obi-Wan began to list the survival gear, "Matches to start a fire, a couple rations, water, a water filter, bug repellent, a flashlight, bacta patches, the usual. Unless you'd rather just use your lightsaber, It'd my pleasure to carry both of them." Obi-Wan poked fun at Anakin's "Lightsaber First" mentality.

"Haha, very funny."

Anakin looked inside the backpack and took out a pack of rations. He read the title and groaned with disgust.

"Ugh, come on. I hate these stuff."

"You'll get accustomed to it when you begin to starve." Obi-Wan said.

Anakin placed the pack of rations back into the backpack and then strapped the backpack to his back. He activated his com-link in hopes to contact the Republic, but to no avail.

"No signal." Anakin sighed.

"That was expected. After all, we are stuck on a planet in deep space with nowhere to go." Obi-Wan joked.

Covering his eyes with his mechanical hand, Anakin looked up into the blue sky and glanced at the star for a quick second. The sun was in its highest position in the sky as it could be. It was mid-day. Anakin began to scan around for the mountains he saw earlier while in the shuttle

"In that case, we should get moving." Anakin said.

"We can't just wander around aimlessly we need a plan." Obi-Wan replied.

"You always taught me to go on instinct, and my instincts tell me to go that way." Anakin pointed to the cluster of mountains ahead.

Obi-Wan rubbed his beard.

"No, that - that doesn't seem right. I think we should go this way." Obi-Wan pointed to the direction opposite of the mountains, an endless valley of green grass.

"Why do you even ask for my opinion? You never do things my way."

"We crashed the ship your way."

"Very funny, I see your sense of humor survived the landing." Anakin said sarcastically.

"That's about the only thing."

Anakin grew frustrated.

"Fine. We'll do things your way." Anakin submitted to his Master's suggestion.

Obi-Wan grinned at his former student. "Let's move along then, shall we?"

"Right behind you, Master."

A TALE of TWO KNIGHTS

The two Jedi Knights began to travel the grassy plains. For hours they saw no sign of any civilization. All they saw was an endless plain of grass. They began to doubt if there were even a single group of people situated on this backwater planet.

"How long have we been walking?" Anakin began to complain.

"About four hours or so, I assume." Obi-Wan replied.

Anakin merely sighed in response. He was growing impatient.

"You're not getting tired, are you?" Obi-Wan questioned.

"Tired of walking? No." Anakin replied, "a few animals here and there, but absolutely no sign of civilization!"

"Be patient, Anakin. Things like this take time." Obi-Wan lectured his former student as they continued to walk.

"Yeah, too much time. For all we know, we could be the only people here."

"Possibly, but we don't know that."

Anakin began to change the subject of his conversation with Obi-Wan.

"Grass, grass, and more grass. Look at all this grass! Have you ever been so excited?" Anakin sarcastically complained.

Obi-Wan suddenly stepped into a hollow part of grass. He noticed the shift in leveling and looked down. He crouched down on one knee and inspected the ground. He ran his hand through the grass. It was completely flattened.

"Anakin, look." he called for his former student.

"What is it?" Anakin approached.

Obi-Wan stood up and stepped out of the hollow ground to take a more larger view of it. It was the shape of a giant human foot, and by the looks of this giant foot, there were giants roaming this area.

"It's - a huge footprint."

"A footprint?" Anakin observed what Obi-Wan called a "footprint".

Anakin noticed they were at the peak of a medium-sized hill, and below the hill was a valley painted by other huge human-like footprints scattered everywhere.

"They're... everywhere."

Obi-Wan approached the peak of the hill and scanned the valley below. The footprints varied in size, a sign that there were many of these giants here.

"Recent too by the looks of it." Obi-Wan added, "I never heard of giant any humanoids before."

"The thrills never stop." Anakin said.

"It seems like they suddenly followed each other to a certain direction." Obi-Wan continued.

"Each other?" Anakin questioned.

"The footprints. They vary in size." Obi-Wan explained.

"You want to follow them or what?"

Obi-Wan continued to stare at the large footprints until he finally made his decision.

"Let's go."

Anakin and Obi-Wan began to run down the hill towards the direction of the large footprints. They followed the path it left behind. Obi-Wan suddenly paused when he saw trails of blood beside the huge footprints.

"Blood..." Obi-Wan said.

He got down on one knee as he observed the trail of blood.

"Blood seems too small for a creature of this size." Anakin noted.

The two of them diverted their attention to the trail of blood. Shock suddenly overcame them when they saw a body. A human body torn in half. Only the torso was left. The arms were spread out. The mouth wide open like it was trying to speak. Beside the body were two swords. Anakin and Obi-Wan thought they were primitive. This answered their civilization doubts, but another question arose.

"What happened here?" Anakin shuddered.

"He was - torn apart." Obi-Wan said.

"By who?"

Obi-Wan looked back at the huge footprints. He pondered for a few seconds before coming to a conclusion.

"Maybe those giants killed this unfortunate fellow."

"But, why?"

"I don't know."

Anakin simply looked at the corpse. He had an urge to look away, but something about the gory corpse intrigued him. He didn't know what it was.

"There's nothing we can do for him." Anakin said with sadness in his voice.

Words could not describe what they were seeing. All they did was just stare at the bloody corpse. The corpse was fresh, he had recently died. Silence overcame the two as they were simply staring at the lifeless torso. Anakin and Obi-Wan noticed that the person was wearing a green cloak with a symbol bearing wings.

What kind of creature would kill such a man like this? Obi-Wan said to himself.

Anakin finally broke the silence, "I'll contact Ahsoka, maybe she can-"

Obi-Wan stared blankly at Anakin. Anakin fell silent again upon realizing what he had just said. Obi-Wan stood up and walked with him.

"Anakin."

Anakin sighed, "Forget about it, she's gone."

"Anakin, do you want to talk about it?" Obi-Wan asked. He felt sympathy for Anakin.

"What's there to talk about?"

"Nothing, I suppose." Obi-Wan continued to walk with Anakin. "Perhaps we should set up camp, sound like a plan?"

"Whatever you say, Master. Let's just bury the man first." Anakin stared back at the corpse. "Finally lay him to rest."

"Right..." Obi-Wan agreed

A TALE of TWO KNIGHTS

After burying the man, the two Jedi Knights set camp at an open field. Anakin gathered enough sticks and used the match to start a fire to keep them warm. They dragged two rocks to use them as a seat. The sun began to set in the west. Night was approaching.

Anakin was conflicted; his leg was shaking non-stop. Memories of Ahsoka flashed through his mind. He missed his Pawadan. He blamed all of it on the Council. Then there was the corpse from earlier. Seeing the body torn in half will haunt him forever. He didn't speak a single word ever since. Only the sizzle and crackle of the fire was heard.

Anakin grabbed a stick from the bundle of sticks and threw it in the fire to keep it going. A sudden scream was heard. The scream was so loud that Anakin thought the person was in complete agony. Like someone was burning alive. It was quick as a heartbeat, but at the same time so terrifying. Anakin was startled as he jumped back onto the stone seat. His heartbeat raised and his breathing was off.

"Anakin, are you alright?" Obi-Wan was concerned.

"Yeah, I'm - fine." Anakin looked around the area, but it was completely dark. He couldn't see anything. The small fire provided little light for a small area.

"Did you hear that?" Anakin worryingly asked.

"I didn't hear anything."

Forget about it. All in my head.

No one chose to speak for another minute, then Obi-Wan chose to speak.

"Anakin, dwelling on Ahsoka's decision won't bring her back." Obi-Wan added to Anakin's internal suffering.

Anakin raised his voice, "I miss her okay?! Is that what you wanted me to say?" Anakin sighed, "I still can't understand how she could've left the Order."

"It was a surprise decision to all of us." Obi-Wan replied.

"It was wrong!" Anakin interjected. "She's a Jedi! She belongs with us!"

Anakin stood up out of the stone seat.

"She's one of us."

"She made the decision, Anakin." Obi-Wan continued his point.

"Well, what choice did we give her?!" Anakin yelled. "The moment there were any suspicions about her loyalty, the Council turned their back on her!"

Obi-Wan sighed, "I will grant you mistakes were made, but she chose to leave. Part of the Jedi way is not letting emotion cloud your better judgement, and that's precisely what Ahsoka did. Even in her most critical moment."

Anakin chose to remain silent. He chose to let the small campfire speak for him.

"Why don't you get some rest?" Obi-Wan suggested.

"I'm not tired - you can rest, Master. I'll keep first watch"

Obi-Wan unstrapped his backpack and laid it on the ground. He then laid on the cold, hard ground and rested his head upon the backpack.

"Well, then. I will accept your kind offer." Obi-Wan continued. "You can't take responsibility for Ahsoka's decision, Anakin."

Anakin was getting tired of this conversation. He grew annoyed by his Master's lecture, but he refused to manifest it.

"How would you feel if I turned into a major disappointment?" Anakin questioned his Master.

"It's not the same." Obi-Wan answered.

"It's precisely the same." Anakin retorted. "You took me under your wing and practically raised me. I'm your Padawan, just like Ahsoka was mine. How well would you sleep knowing I failed you?" Anakin continued his bombardment of uneasy questions.

"Not very well, I imagine. Luckily, that isn't true, and never will be..."

A TALE of TWO KNIGHTS

The sun rose from the east. Dawn finally came. The warmth breathed life into Obi-Wan as he began to wake up from his long slumber. Across from him was Anakin. Anakin was snoring heavily. He fell asleep while keeping first watch.

Titans were roaming the area. Two eight meter titans found themselves at the small camp Anakin and Obi-Wan had set up the night before.

Obi-Wan opened his eyes and found himself staring at a gigantic face that was staring back at him with a look of curiosity. It was terrifying to say the least. It had huge eyes, a huge nose, an enormous mouth, and hair on the top of its head. Parts of its enormous body were disproportionate from one another. The head was quite smaller than the rest of the body, and the arms were very, very long and muscular. It was some sort of giant humanoid. It was completely naked, though it had no reproductive organs.

In an instant, Obi-Wan's pupils grew in size. His adrenaline kicked in. His heartbeat began to race, and his breathing increased. He was ready to fight.

"Wha?!" Obi-Wan exclaimed in confusion and horror as he stood up.

Before he could go for his lightsaber, the titan immediately grabbed him with two hands, lifting him up from the ground and towards its mouth, preparing to make hm its next meal.

Obi-Wan squirmed, struggled, kicked, and punched the gigantic fist that had captured him. He gave all his effort into escaping its grasp.

He desperately cried for Anakin to help, "Anakin! Anakin help! Help me!"

Anakin's eyes shot wide open. His eyes caught Obi-Wan inside the hands of a huge monster that was about to devour him whole. He had never heard Obi-Wan scream like that.

"Master!" Anakin grabbed his lightsaber and ignited it. A bright blue blade rose from the hilt and glowed.

"Let go of him!" He yelled at the titan with intense hatred.

Anakin sprung into action. He used force jump to reach Obi-Wan in order to save him. The face of the titan was inches away from Anakin's. The titan opened its oversized mouth, and Obi-Wan was right at its doorstep.

Anakin targeted both of its eyes. With one single stroke, he sliced both of the eyes off. The titan roared in agony and fell back. Anakin jumped on it's nose and went for both of it's arms. He jumped off and charged his strike, yelling in the process. The lightsaber made contact with the flesh and severed both arms. The arms fell from the rest of the body. Both of the titan's hands lost its grip on Obi-Wan, and he was finally freed. They both landed on the ground with ease. Anakin used the force to grab a large rock and then threw it right at the titan's face, stunning it.

"You okay?" Anakin asked, facing the titan that he had taken down. Anakin and Obi-Wan stood back-to-back guarding each other

Obi-Wan dusted off his robes and ignited his lightsaber. "You were suppose to wake me."

"Actually, I - thought this would be an effective way to draw them in." Anakin explained.

"Oh, so this is your idea of a plan? You intentionally fell asleep and let me become five-star giant chow?!"

"Well, it's working isn't it?"

The second titan approached the pair. The ground below them began to shake. Obi-Wan raised his lightsaber in a defensive manner.

"There's another one." he said.

"You take that one. I'll finish this one off." Anakin said.

"Alright. Go!" Obi-Wan used force push on the titan which slightly brought it off balance. He used this to his advantage as he jumped on to the titan's shoulder.

"Hello, there!" Obi-Wan greeted the monster as he sliced it's shoulder off. The titan used its other hand in an attempt to grab Obi-Wan, but he dodged it and jumped on to it's head. He drove his lightsaber right into its skull and then jumped off and sliced the titan directly at the nape, killing it.

The titan fell down, lifeless. Obi-Wan landed on it's back and called out for Anakin.

"Anakin?! How are you faring?"

Anakin stepped back as the titan he took down stood up again. Hot steam came out from the parts Anakin sliced at. Its arms and eyes were regenerating.

"Uh - mine's not dying." Anakin called back.

Obi-Wan checked to see if the titan he killed was resurrecting in any way - he noticed it wasn't. Obi-Wan diverted his attention to the titan Anakin was facing. Obi-Wan and Anakin stood side by side with their lightsabers ready for battle.

"How'd you take down yours?" Anakin asked.

It was the strike at the nape that took it down for good.

"Anakin, target its nape." Obi-Wan ordered.

"Oh yeah? What are you going to do?"

"I'll keep it's attention away from you. Now go!"

The two Jedi ran towards the oncoming titan. Obi-Wan and Anakin jumped up on the titan at the same time. Obi-Wan struck the titan on its face while Anakin cut off it's arm while going for the nape. Anakin struck the nape with precision as the titan fell down followed by a large crash.

The two Jedi jumped off and landed on their feet.

"Nice work." Anakin complimented his Master while looking back at the dead titan.

"Prepare yourself, Anakin." Obi-Wan warned him as dozens of other titans began to surround them.

"Oh, great!" Anakin said as he and Obi-Wan stood back-to-back again, facing the titans with no fear. They weren't scared of them at all. They've both dealt beasts much more larger than these things.

"I think they're aren't too happy of our presence." Obi-Wan said.

The ground began to shake. Anakin and Obi-Wan raised their lightsabers, ready to face the dozens of titans.

"We'll take them together." Obi-Wan said.

"I was about to say that."

The two of them sprinted forward in different directions to face the multitude of titans.
