And I just wanna show you

She don't even know you

She's never gonna love you like I want to

You just see right through me but if you only knew me

We could be a beautiful miracle unbelievable

Instead of just invisible

"You look beautiful."

"Zeke, please don't."

"I was just saying."

"Well, don't!" She spat. "I don't need it Zeke. I do not need your approval." She clipped her hair back and ran her fingers through her bangs. Zeke sighed.

"We better get back out there. No doubt, you're about to get crowned."

"I think Gabriella has that locked up, don't you?" Zeke shrugged his shoulders.

"We'll see." He moved towards her, stopped and left the room. She looked up into the mirror and blinked back the fast-forming tears. She dabbed on an extra coat of lip gloss, took a deep breath, and made her way back to the gym, in time for the announcement.

"And East High's Prom King of 2008 is…" Principal Matsui paused as he opened the envelope. "Who else but Troy Bolton! Congratulations Troy!" She rolled her eyes and clapped politely as Troy made his way onto the makeshift stage and was presented with his crown. He grabbed the microphone and punched his fist in the air victoriously.

"Thanks to everyone who voted for me! I must be doing something right!" He handed the microphone back to Principal Matsui.

"And now East High's Prom Queen of 2008…Gabriella Montez! Congratulations!" She watched as Gabriella stopped speechless and had to be pushed onstage by her friends. She accepted her tiara and took hold of the microphone.

"Wow. I really don't know what to say. Oh my gosh, just thank you. This means more to me than you could ever imagine. I feel like I fit in here at East High and I have all of you to thank for that."

From her position at the back of the gym, she made a gagging noise as Gabriella handed the microphone back and embraced Troy before he led her out onto the middle of the dance floor. They began their spotlight dance and she made her way to the refreshment table. Pouring herself a cup of the sickly punch, she turned her head as someone sidled up to her.

"You look beautiful, Shar."

"Ryan, please. I don't need your approval."

"No," He followed her gaze to Troy and Gabriella. "And you don't need his either, but that doesn't mean you don't want it."

So yeah, it sucked, but I wrote it at midnight so I have a somewhat feeble excuse.

I hope you liked it.

Reviews are nice.
