Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own Castle or any characters.
The sun was shining through the curtains in Castle's master bedroom. The light fell on Kate's face forcing her to wake up. She yawned and stretched her arms only to find that the other part of the bed was empty. The sheets were still warm and there was and imprint of his body in the mattress.
"That probably means he just got up." thought Kate.
She was just about to get up and go look for him when she heard his footsteps coming towards the bedroom door. He came in, clad in only his boxers, and put a breakfast tray next to the bed. He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek.
"Morning, babe."
"Do not call me ''babe''" replied Kate
"Why not, sweetie?" said Castle, giving her his usual smirk.
"Castle. Stop it."
"But honey..."
"Richard Castle. Stop calling me that." she raised her voice just a little to let him know that she was serious.
"You really hate nicknames, don't you sweetheart?" He let out a little laugh and gently pressed their lips together.
"God... You are so annoying sometimes. You act like a nine year old." said Kate as they separated.
He ignored her last comment and sat down next to her on the bed. He took the tray and placed it in front of them.
"In case you haven't noticed, I made us breakfast." he said, looking deep into her eyes.
Kate felt a shiver run down her spine, as she stared into his blue eyes. Then, of course, her stomach let out a loud rumble, which caused her to look away from his eyes and at the tray full of delicious food.
"„Way to ruin the moment" said Castle, gently patting her on the stomach. "Looks, actually sounds, like you're really hungry. You in the mood for a smorlette?" asked Castle, pointing to the plates lying in front of them.
"Really... You made smorlettes? Can't you ever make something normal?" asked Kate.
She saw the joy and happiness disappear from his eyes, and that's when she realised what she had said.
"Just joking Rick. Relax. I love your smorlettes almost as much as I love you." she quickly replied.
She pressed her lips to his in a warm and romantic kiss. When she pulled away, his eyes were once again filled with love and happiness. He had a giant smile on his face, that really made him look like a small boy.
"I love you too and I'm glad you like my smorlettes. Alexis thinks they're disgusting. I really don't understand why she would think that. I mean how can you not like omelette with chocolate and marshmallows?"
They started eating and Castle just continued rambling. He went on and on about different things he could cook, the things Alexis liked and all the restaurants that they had to go to one day. Kate said nothing and just listened to him talking. She loved the sound of his voice in the morning, still a bit rusty from sleep.
"Why are you so quiet?" asked Castle, bringing Kate out of her thoughts. „Something wrong?"
"No. Everything's fine. Great, actually." she replied.
"Good. I'm glad. Now, since Alexis is going to be home in an hour, I suggest a quickie and then we clean up."
Kate smacked his bare chest with her hand and got out of bed. „There's only one thing in your head all the time. Isn't there?" she said while walking towards the bathroom. She stepped inside, hopped out of her pyjamas and turned on the shower. She knew that it wouldn't take long for Castle to come and join her.
Castle was sitting on the bed, when he realised that the door to bathroom was slightly open. He took that as an invitation and decided to join her in the shower.
