Chocolate Apologies
He let himself into the flat quietly, hanging up his cloak and taking his shoes off, leaving them on the rack by the door. It was oddly quiet in the flat. George knew he was late home, but he'd expected Seamus to be up.
Walking into the kitchen, he stopped short. On the table was an elaborate meal, all setup with candles, wine in an ice bucket, and a box to the side with a bow sitting up at the top.
George frowned, stepping towards it. On the box was a tag, and George read it with a sinking feeling in his gut.
Happy anniversary babe
Fuck it all, he'd forgotten. That explained Seamus' absence. He hesitantly approached the bedroom, relieved to see the lump beneath the blanket showing that Seamus hadn't left the flat. George stripped quickly and quietly, sliding beneath the covers.
He was almost positive that Seamus was still awake. He reached out a hand to brush against Seamus' back, but pulled away when the muscles twitched beneath his touch.
Seamus was understandably pissed.
"I'm sorry," George whispered into the silence.
He got no reply.
The next day, Seamus was gone before George woke up, but that was nothing new. Seamus often had to leave for an early shift at the hospital, and he'd quickly learnt how to avoid waking George up as he got ready for work.
George got up and showered quickly before dressing and leaving the flat. He had a lot of making up to do, and he knew exactly how he was going to do it.
George's heart skipped a beat in his chest when he heard the key move in the lock. He waited in the living room with bated breath for Seamus to enter. Every surface was covered in Seamus' favourite mini chocolates, each individually wrapped in shiny paper, and the room was lit with a bunch of ever-burn candles.
On the coffee table, a tray with a bottle of Seamus' favourite wine and a takeaway from his favourite Chinese, because George can do many things, but cooking is not one of them.
Seamus stopped at the door, taking in the room. He raised his eyebrow at George, who immediately crossed the room and dropped to his knees, taking Seamus' hands in his own.
"I'm sorry I forgot our anniversary," he said, pressing his lips to Seamus's hand. "I'm a sucky boyfriend, and I deserve to be whipped with chains and fed to a chimera."
He looked up into Seamus' softening eyes. "I really am sorry, Shay."
Seamus nodded.
"Am I forgiven?"
Seamus nodded again, pulling George to his feet. He allowed a chaste kiss to be pressed against his lips.
"The bath is ready for you," George added, smiling when Seamus' eyes lit up.
He knew that when Seamus finished a shift at the hospital, the only things he craved were hot water and chocolate.
Seamus pressed a firmer kiss to George's lips before leaving the room, stripping as he went.
"You know why I had no choice to forgive you, don't you?" Seamus asked later, when the two were lounging on the sofa, Seamus between George's legs, leaning up against his chest.
"Hmm? No, why?"
Seamus threw a still wrapped chocolate up in the air, catching it when it fell back down. "I'm a healer. It's bad form if I eat all this chocolate myself."
Laughter filled the room and George squeezed his arms around Seamus, pressing a kiss to his bare shoulder.
"I love you."
