Disclaimer: I don't own SGA. Wish I did, but I don't. The only thing I own is Kiana Roberts. I would claim ownership of Ferngully but I took the name from a cartoon movie. (If you haven't seen it, go and see it. Everyone needs to have seen batty at least once in his or her life)

A/N: This does not go with teh WMC universe. I am working on a possible sequel however which was supposed to be the main story in this universe but this bunny hit. Therefore this is the first story.

Why did it have to be him? She had no idea what drew her to Rodney McKay like a moth to a flame or why all of a sudden her friendship with him turned to one-sided attraction.

Scratch that. She was in love with him.

But why did it have to be him? Why couldn't it have been John who showed some sort of attraction back? Then again, John and she would never love each other. There were rumors around the base that he was in love with someone else, and not her or Teyla (which was a surprise). Not that it would have mattered. He was only her friend and they were happy that way.

Or Carson. He was a nice fellow. Great accent, always ready to spout information. But he was not interested in her in the slightest anymore then leader and friend. Same with Aiden Ford, although that would have been against her own moral code. It would be taking advantage of her superior office and plus 10 years was a lot of time between them.

There was Kavanagh, but he repelled her with his attitude and Zelenka acted too brotherly for her to even think such thoughts about him. There was Simon back home, of course, but that was long over. In fact, he had just sent her a letter with a picture of his wife and him from their wedding day. She hadn't felt anything but happiness for him. At least he was happy.

She had fallen in love with a man in love with another women. Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter. Rodney always praised her and brought her up a lot. John didn't seem to see that his eyes lit up at the thought of her and thought he was just discussing a woman he respected as a colleague. But she knew better. Rodney didn't light up like that for her, or Amanda Simpson. He didn't light up like that for Daniel Jackson or Radek Zelenka. Just for her.

She sat down and put her head in her hands. She was happy to have just his friendship, but occasionally the thought of something more got into her brain and made her wish that she wasn't restricted from showing her emotion. Only John and Teyla knew the truth.

"Are you sure you don't want me to go with you?" John asked coming up behind her. Rodney, Liz, Teyla and Aiden were leaving shortly for Ferngully, a planet that had asked to see their leader. Someone had to stay behind to keep a look out over the base.

"I'm sure I'll be fine. You're being overly concerned." He smiled.

"Well, Atlantis does need its commander you know." In the three years since they had arrived at Atlantis, they had lost two military commanders, a senior advisor and several other members of their military staff. They had become a family and everyone seemed quite concerned over her safety in this mission.

"Don't worry. Besides Dr. Roberts says this culture abhors violence and that they don't allow weapons to be used. I'll be fine." Liz decided not to comment on strange look that John gave her at the mention of Kiana Roberts, but instead stood up and picked up her bag. She walked down into the gate room, making half way down the stairs before John called to her.

"You know," he said reaching her, "He lights up for you too." She had no idea how he had known what she was thinking, but then after three years of fighting along each other, she supposed they knew each other's thought patterns very well.

She only smiled at him, not really believing him and walked to met Rodney and Teyla next to the gate. She took a deep breath and got into her self titled "Boss Chick" mode.

This was going to be a good trip she just knew it.
