He spotted her across the room, a lone figure huddled into a corner, ignored at her own party. Allowing herself to go unnoticed was probably a good strategy for an attractive young victor. Being noticed had certainly not ended well for him. Finnick had heard much about Johanna Mason, and at that instant, he decided he needed to meet this woman himself. He strode through the crowded ballroom, his progress hindered by the requests of dozens of Capitolites for dances, kisses or conversation. As always, Finnick gave them freely, but he eventually reached Johanna Mason's side. "Good evening," he purred.

She jumped at the sound of his voice. Finnick was amused. For a victor, she certainly wasn't very observant. "Are you enjoying the party?" He gestured towards the center of the grand ballroom.

Johanna snorted. "No, but it looks like you are."

No, I'm not enjoying this, of course I'm not, but he knew how she was arriving at that assumption. Most people only had rainbows of lipstick stains on their shirt collars after a good time, but Finnick spent his life in the Capitol reeking of expensive perfume, his throat covered in love bites. For him, this was hell.

He smiled seductively. "Oh, I am, but I think I could do better." Finnick added his best wink, waiting for Johanna to blush and stammer.

Her response surprised him. "You think you can handle me, Odair?" She closed the distance between them, her hips swaying in a gentle rhythm. Johanna leaned up on her tiptoes and traced down his chest with the tips of her fingers as she whispered in his ear, "I'd like to see you try."

That wasn't what he'd been expecting. Despite his mind screaming no, Finnick could feel his body warming to Johanna. He struggled to maintain his cool façade. "After the party?" That should buy him enough time to calm himself down. He wouldn't want to embarrass himself.

"I look forward to it."

The end of the party couldn't come soon enough. Finnick raced up the stairs to District Seven's floor. He nodded politely at Blight, who gave him a curious glance as he slipped into Johanna's room.

She'd found another way to surprise him. From her Games performance, Finnick had almost expected her to be waiting in the nude. Instead, she was even more covered up than she'd been at the party. Johanna smirked at his expression. "On second thought, I've decided I don't want all the Capitol's bugs."

"I'm clean!" Finnick protested.

Johanna walked across the room and pressed herself against him. "All right, maybe I didn't decide based on STIs. Maybe I just want to see you work for it."

"Work for it?"

Her grin grew wider. "Make me beg, Odair. Not tonight, probably not tomorrow, but someday, you just might manage to make me scream." She pushed him away. "You're dismissed."

Finnick walked back to the elevator in a daze. Yes, he decided, he was definitely starting to like this girl.

A/N: Okay, this was a weird experience. I'm a huge Odesta shipper, but this was kind of fun to write. I'm excited to hear what you think! Thanks so much for reading. By the way, this was written for the Caesar's Palace Shipping Week Challenge.
