Prime Minister Aubrey Fairchild sat in his Downing Street office; it was December 2008; for Fairchild it was his first Christmas in Number 10. Aubrey was a Conservative who had won a general election held after the assassination of the previous PM, one Harold Saxon; Saxon the head of the bipartisan Saxon Coalition had been shot during the Toclafane First Contact which had also killed the American President.
Aubrey remembered when he first arrived at Downing Street as Prime Minister. He'd met Lord Fredericks; the man who had been sent to delegate government responsibilities since Saxon and his Cabinet's deaths, the Lord was a political independent and a distant relative of the Queen. Fredericks had made all the executive decisions without a Cabinet or a government, in the absence of a proper PM during the 8-week election campaign.
Fredericks had said "It's a tough job, old chap" before departing the PM's office; Aubrey's new office. Aubrey hadn't the foggiest what Fredericks had been on about; until Colonel Richard Myers of UNIT had booked himself an appointment within Fairchild's first week as Prime Minister. Myers had swung into Downing Street to speak about UNIT protocol and at the threat Britain currently faced.
For Prime Minister Fairchild, sitting in the high green leather swivel chair behind his ancient oak desk; it had been a relatively quiet morning. The PM was sipping a cup of Earl Grey, until his personal aide, Eric knocked on the door to his office.
"Come in" the PM shouted; Eric entered the office and stood to attention in front of Fairchild's desk.
"Prime Minister; it is my regret to inform you that at 10:39am this morning; a Code Cyan was initiated by UNIT" stated Eric
"Code Cyan?" replied Fairchild in a shock.
"Yes," replied Eric
"I trust it is somewhere in Britain then?" asked Fairchild?
"Yes, it has been pinpointed to Mount Snowdon, Wales"
Fairchild pondered for a moment; then he spoke
"Get the plane ready; we're headed to Mount Snowdon; I want people from MI5 and the Home Office attending."
"Right, sir; and what about Torchwood?" asked Eric
"Oh, they'll be already thereā¦"
