It was a rainy Wednesday afternoon, and Louis was exhausted. He had just come back from a long day of working at Gringotts, and wanted to do nothing more than go home, make a cup of tea, and sit in his armchair reading and daydreaming about Lorcan.

Lorcan. Lorcan Scamander. Even thinking that name brought a small, secret smile to his face.

As he climbed the steps to his apartment, he wondered if there would be an owl from Lorcan waiting for him when he got home.

Turning the key in the lock, he opened his door, stepped inside— and screamed.

All of his eleven Weasley cousins/siblings were standing in his apartment.

"What are you doing here?" he demanded, slamming his door. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!"

Stepping forward, her expression serious, Victoire spoke. "Louis, this is an intervention. Please be seated."

An intervention? An intervention for what? Louis didn't smoke, do drugs, drink excessive amounts of alcohol, or do anything else that would qualify him for an intervention. What were they playing at?

He decided to sit down.

The moment he was seated, Victoire pulled out a piece of paper, and the others crowded around her, squinting at the writing. Then Victoire began to read.

"Dear Louis," she began, "I remember when Mama first told us she was having a baby. Even though we didn't know yet whether you were a boy or a girl, I already loved you."

"We've always been playmates," said Lily. "We've always told each other everything."

"You used to climb trees and build forts with me while Victoire was playing with dolls," said Dominique.

"You taught me how to swim," said Fred.

"You danced with me at parties," said Roxanne.

"You helped me find my pet mouse when it ran away," said Hugo.

"You always have a new book for me to read," said Rose.

"You're my best friend," said Lily.

"My little brother," said Victoire.

"Grandma loves you because you listen to her stories," said Hugo.

"You help Mum with S.P.E.W.," said Rose.

"You charm every single person you meet," said Lily.

"You always apologize when you're rude," said Dominique.

"You're funny."

"And smart."

"And kind."

"And creative."

"And we love you."

"So much."

"We don't care that you're gay, Louis," said Victoire.

"We've always known that," said Lily.

"We just want you to be happy," said Dominique.

"And no matter what—

"No matter who you love—

"You will always be our cousin," said Lily.

"You will always be one of the guys," said James, Hugo, and Fred.

"You will always be our brother," said Victoire and Dominique.

"And we will always love you."

Louis started to cry.

"Just allergies," he muttered, rubbing at his eyes.

"Merlin, boys are stupid," said Lily, also crying.

James clapped Louis on the shoulder. "Come on, bro," he said. "Bring it in."

As they hugged, Lily wiggled her way in between them, and then Hugo and Rose joined in, and before long, all of the Weasley cousins were hugging and crying

Later, when the crying had stopped, the ice cream had been served, and James and Hugo had started dropping ice cubes down people's shirts— later, when Lorcan responded to Louis's hastily-sent owl and showed up at the apartment— later, when Victoire jumped up to hug Lorcan and Dominique said "So, you're my brother's boyfriend?"— later, when he and Lorcan were holding hands and no one was staring, Louis knew that he had the best family in the world.
