Why Did it Have to be Me
I awoke from my slumber breathing heavily and covered in sweat. The sunlight that shone through my window stung my dark brown eyes. I looked around my room and gave a sigh of relief. It was only just a dream I thought to myself. Actually, I would call it more of a nightmare. I have been having this reoccurring nightmare lately. I'm in a large boiler room and a man with terribly burnt skin appears. He wears a dark brown hat and a striped has a glove with razor sharp claws in place of where his right hand should be. He tells me that soon he will have enough power to take me away. I try to run away from him but he always finds me. He holds me down and snarls "you can't stop me this is my world… and soon it will be yours to". He raises his glove and attempts to strike me but before he can I am awakened.
I wish I could stop these nightmares they have really taken a toll on me sleep for the past 2 weeks. I really need to clear my mind, so I decide to take a walk. I travel down the hall to the last room on the left. I barge in and discover my father is on a conference call. He shakes his hand vigorously trying to signal me to go away. My dad is always busy working these scince my mom died he has been working really hard just to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. I find a notepad and a pencil. I scribble down "I'm going for a walk". He simply nods his head, and with that I left him to his work.
I debate weather just to take a walk through town or through the woods. Defiantly the woods I think. It's calmer, and it will give me peace and quiet. I walk down an old dirt road that soon turns into a lush green forest. Before I know it I'm deep in thought. I think to myself who is that man? What does he want? What did he mean by "and soon your world to"? My concentration was broken off by an evil laugh. I swiftly turned my head, and there he was the man from my dreams. Without thinking I run as fast as my puny legs will carry me. The way I took off running you would think I was a track star. But with my clumsiness I manage to trip and fall. I attempt to get up but something is holding me down. Almost like an invisible force field. The man is now right in my face. P-please don't hurt me I manage to choke out. He grins at me and replies don't worry I wouldn't dream of hurting you Kenzi. "How do you know my name?"
Before he could answer he looks up and his expression turned serious you might even say scared. He muttered quietly to himself something I couldn't make out, and in a blink of an eye he vanished. I got up and analyzed what was behind me. Right in front of me was an old worn down wooden sign that said Camp Crystal Lake written in red letters.
