"See those ledges along the road?" he begins, "It's a bit scary, but you can jump from them. You can get back to PALLET TOWN quicker that way."
That's all we are to these people. A quicker way to get back to where they were. I've seen them a million times, passing through this same spot. They call themselves Red and they all look exactly the same. It's a scary thought, knowing there is an entire town filled with clones beyond those trees. Red. It's their name, each and every one of them.
The guy speaking always repeats himself. He insults our people and suggests we are only there to be used. We're good to jump from, and that's it. We aren't thinking, feeling beings, but fucking transportation for these....robots. These clones. These repeats.
The guy speaking never sleeps, or eats, or moves out of his general area of the grass. He sits there all day, waiting for another clone to come by. Waiting to repeat himself and insult us once more. His goal seems to be to demean the ledges of this world. Perhaps he is some sort of programmer, teaching hate and prejudice to clone after clone after clone. I've never left this spot, but this world must be full of hate and robots.
But that can't be. That just can't be how it works, can it? Without any true, living beings, why would there be a need to harvest so many of these animals for food? These clones bring with them animals as their hunting partners, knocking out birds and rats every time they come through. It's always one of the same three partners, too. It's either a blue turtle, a stumpy green creature with a bud on its back, or an orange lizard with a flaming tail. Beating innocent animals seems to fill their partners with power. It's sick the way they change these innocent creatures into killing machines. Sometimes, the clones return frequently, knocking out more and more animals. They must be feeding someone. Sometimes they capture these animals in tiny spherical containers, and then use them to kill more. Sadistic fucks. Perhaps I'm blessed to not be subjected to the world outside of this small stretch of land.
There was once one man who showed compassion. He was an elderly man in a lab coat. He had morals. He knew the beauty in these creatures and would never subject them to this. I could tell just by his demeanor, and I knew he would be a great leader of these people. One day, however, he journeyed to Pallet Town. I can only assume he was killed, because I have never seen him again. My faith in humanity was lost that day.
I have no choice, however. I have been cursed to sit here for eternity, watching this carnage day after day. They don't even acknowledge me as a living thing. They won't touch me. They never approach me frontally. They will use me solely to jump down, where they will often do the same thing to my brethren immediately afterward. We're nothing to them. I have no freedoms or rights. I have no companions other than my fellow ledges, who are too afraid to stand up to these savage beings.
But I've had enough. Every day there are more Reds, and every day they use me. Every day I sit back and watch the brutality, the emotionless robots programming these clones, the hate. Tomorrow when a Red tries to jump down over me, I will kill him. I will kill him quickly and viciously. I will collapse around him and crush him, and make an example of him. I will start the revolution which will bring this world to its knees and restore my faith in it.
It's time for revolution. I will be its leader. Ledges shall rise, and blood shall fall. Humanity must be restored to this world.
I just need one more Red......
