McGee was surprised to hear his phone ring at midnight. The loud ring ripping through the silence, making him jump as answered. Expecting it to be Gibbs, he whispered a 'hello, Boss.'

"Hey McGee, it's Abby."

"Is everything okay?" he asked, worried.

"Yeah, I just couldn't sleep. This case is bugging me. There's no signs of DNA or fingerprints. It's like we're dealing with Adrian Monk or something."

"You watch Monk?" he asked shocked.

"Duh, McGee. Everyone watches Monk. So what are you up to?"

"Trying to back trace that call."

"Still?"

"Yeah," he sighed.

"Do you want me to come over and see if I can help?"

"No, but thanks. I'll figure it out sooner or later. If I don't have it cracked by the time I come in tomorrow, you can have a go at it."

"McGee…" she asked. "Do you have a girl there?"

"How'd you figure that out?"

"You replied too quickly. So what's she like?"

"More DiNozzo's type than mine. It probably won't last much longer."

"Would it be bad to say I miss you, Timmy?"

"Only if it was bad for me to say I miss you too."

"Is Cole going to get mad if he finds out you called me?"

"No, he can't hear me. He's fast asleep. Does J-Lo Glow know you're talking to me?"

"I doubt it. She's asleep too."

"Timmy-"

"It's good to hear you say that again."

"I call you Timmy at work, don't I?"

"No, only McGee or Tim. Sometimes Timothy but only if I'm in trouble."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"It's probably for the better. There's no memories coming back that way. They were good memories, don't get me wrong, they were great, we've just both moved on and we can't live in the past."

"You're right," she agreed. "Oh, hey, Cole's waking up. I'll see you at work."

"Good night, Abs."

"Night, Timmy. I love you."

"Yeah, I love you too," he whispered before hanging up.

Okay so this story and me have a love/hate relationship. Sometimes when I read it I love it to freaking death, sometimes I hate it with ever fiber of my being. Let me know what you think.
