'It wasn't supposed to happen. Not like this. Oh Roll. If only that virus wasn't in you.'
Flashback
Megaman was chasing Roll. They had learned about a virus inside her that was slowly eating her away. Megaman was devastated. He loved her; no one knew except him; and now a virus was taking Roll away from him. When he DID catch her, she was screaming, almost making everyone's ears bleed.
"ROLL! Stop this! Please! You're my friend, not enemy!" he screamed loud enough for her to hear.
She shut her mouth and looked murder fully at him. Her eyes were crimson, not jade. They kept flickering in color. She then fainted on the spot.
End flashback.
'Roll… you're my best friend. Now… I just want you back.' Megaman thought.
Megaman was so sad, he didn't see anyone. He hadn't talked to Lan in weeks. No one knew. No one. Well, they knew about that damned virus. He saw the isolation chamber where she was kept. No one was allowed to enter, but he did anyway. No one knew about that.
He crept in and saw her worn out of energy, breathing slowly. Then silence.
"No… no n-n-n-n-no. It… no…"
He saw something he would dread for life. Roll; dead; right in front of him. He felt something sting his eyes. Tears.
"NO!"
He cried. No one was there, except him and a lifeless Roll.
"R-Roll. I w-wish I-I'd told you s-sooner!"
He felt something snap. Something a Netnavi NEVER should feel. No snaps. No crackles. No pops. But he did. His chest hurt. His soul felt halved. He knew what the snap was. Him being snapped in half; half gone; heart halfway there.
"R-R-Roll… I-I never t-told a-anyone th-this. N-not even L-Lan… R-Roll… I… I l-loved you!"
His tears stopped coming.
"And now you're never coming back. I'll never hear your voice, laughter, none of that." He whispered.
He stared up at the sky.
"WHY! WHY DID YOU TAKE HER! I LOVED HER DAMNNIT! BRING HER BACK!" he shouted, choking back sobs that raked his body.
He buried his head into her stomach and he cried. All his pain; agony; hurt; all of it was in the tears. He cried himself to sleep. The next morning he heard a voice.
"M-Megaman…?"
That voice. He knew that feminine voice. He looked up with his teary green eyes and tear-streaked face. Roll. Her jade eyes were on her soft, warm face that held a smile. A small smile. A small, warm smile.
"R-Roll…"
"Mega… what am I doing here?"
He explained everything, causing him to cry again.
"A-And I th-thought you where d-dead…! B-but now y-you're b-b-back." He cried.
Roll held a crying Megaman. She then asked,
"Megaman? You seem to have a different emotion then most have around me except Gutsman. Do… do you LOVE me?"
He looked at her, struggling not to cry any more. He nodded his eyes and more tears leaked out. Roll pulled him into a hug and rubbed his back.
"Oh Mega… I had no idea… does Lan know…?"
He shook his head.
"Don't worry. I'll always be here for you; like you're always there for me."
He smiled through his tears. He then sat up so he could do something he wanted to do for so long. Roll blink back in surprise but accepted the kiss. From that point on, they were more than friends. They told everyone the news and went on with life. The virus never affected anyone else. Everyone lived happily until the end.
