Everything was black.
Yet in the black was a tainted red
It stained the pure white sheets
Covered the wooden floors.
I walked past it all
Following what had become a well known path;
To the door
As I touched it, it opened without a fight
No resistance to my shaking hand
I turned and looked down the hall
My prison for days
The doors that lined the hallways
Up and down the stairs
Called me to come back
The friends that has once walked behind;
Were behind the doors
And lost
As was their innocent.
I turned again, and there it was
In its monstrous glory,
Big and dark.
We stood silently
Both waiting for the confrontation that was going to happen
The gates opened, letting my anger, my sadness, and sorrow flow out.
"Why?" I asked. "Why me?" It looked
And stared; it's face blank
Fixated on the tears falling
As I decided.
I'll win.
And I did it over once again.
