It was a nice, warm day in May. The Marauders were sitting in a Hogwarts classroom that was flooded by the morning sun. Outside the huge, tall windows, the small lake sparkled.

The day promised to be brilliant, but inside the classroom it was rather boring. Or, to be honest, one could have died from boredom. At least Sirius Black felt like this. The young wizard sat in the last row, next to his classmates and best friends James Potter and Remus Lupin.

James had fallen asleep in his chair. His head rested on his book and he was snoring quietly. Sirius couldn't blame him. History of Magic was simply the lamest class taught at Hogwarts.

On the other side next to the raven-haired Gryffindor, Remus was desperately trying to focus on his notes, but Professor Binns' voice was so monotonous that it was almost impossible to pay attention. With the full moon only a week from now, the young werewolf was even more tired than usual, and soon his thoughts wandered off.

When Sirius turned around, originally intending to ask Remus if he could borrow his notes later, he saw a rather rare picture. The younger boy was staring blankly into space, his eyes fixing a point somewhere in the distance. A strain of his caramel-colored hair had fallen into his forehead, and he pushed it away absent-mindedly.

Padfoot grinned. What a perfect moment to prank his friend. Slowly, he stretched his arm until his quill touched Remus' shoulder.

The boy winced, loud enough for Binns to hear and gaze at him angrily, without stopping his monologue, of course. Sirius had to press his hand in front of his mouth to stop himself from laughing as he saw the shocked look on his friend's face.

"Zoomed out a bit, eh, Moony?" he whispered, grinning widely.

Remus scowled at him. "As if you had been paying attention."

But Padfoot just laughed. "So, who have you been thinking about? You were looking quite dreamy."

The pale boy didn't answer, but he was looking a bit uncomfortable suddenly. Was that a blush on his cheeks? Sirius chuckled.

„Was it about me? "He asked, winking.

To his surprise, Remus turned as red as the stripes on his tie.

"…uuh, no, of course not!" he replied after a short silence. He was laughing, but it sounded faked somehow. Now Sirius was really curious.

"So, it was? Really? What have you been-"

"Not now, Pads! Binns is going to send the both of us to detention if you don't shut up right now!"

"Oh, Moony, calm down. The old rattler doesn't even notice James snoring. But all right, we're going to talk about this later!" With a triumphant grin, Sirius turned away.

Remus hid his face behind his hands and groaned quietly. Why did Sirius have to be so attentive just today?

Later that day, Sirius walked through the corridors to his Potions classroom, a beaming smile on his face. Most people who knew him probably thought that he had been snogging a girl or pranking a teacher. But little did they know that he, Sirius Orion Black, had just discovered the best thing ever: Someone he thought he didn't even had a chance on was perhaps, possibly liking him back. And that was literally the most cheering thing happening to him since weeks.
