AN: Another scene from a prompt that I did today. The prompt was "How would a broken plate feel?" This was probably my favorite to write. It's got an edgy, poet slam kind of feeling. Let me know what you think. Don't own HP.
Shattered
Shattered, destroyed, irreparable, discarded, replaceable. Thrown angrily against the mantle in a fit of uncontrolled rage. Sent flying, falling, tumbling, crashing, shattering, broken. Euphemism for their relationship as it flew in the expanse of time, free and powerful. Unstoppable. Impact imminent. Crashing. Shattered. Spider cracks webbing out from the core, weakening the fragile ceramic. Strain on the structure, falling, realization, pieces breaking apart, turning to dust, struggling to land together, to reassemble, to be whole again. To have purpose. Shattered, wobbling on the floor, struggling to remain. Gone. Broken. Irreparable. Over. Something to be swept up, thrown out, forgotten, replaced.
The plate lay on the ground. Chunks intact but separated from their whole. Pieces unrecognizable in the rubble. No longer struggling; just broken. Discarded. Years of use and meaning, gone in a gesture; in a moment.
"Hermione! Wait!"
The vibrations of the door slam sends the pieces quivering. It's not enough. Still immobile. Still broken. Shattered.
