Both kids were tucked in and I had just sat down on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, ready to enjoy myself. I couldn't believe I was getting to do this. First all the adventure, now TWO kids. I never thought I could handle it, but I think I was doing quite well. I heard John walk up behind me. Suddenly he started screaming.

"Mary! Mary!" There's someone that looks like you in the nursery!

I sighed as I got up. Adrenaline should've been pumping through me, but to be honest, I felt kind of bored and upset. I loved John, sure, but sometimes it felt unfair that I had to be thrown into this life.

Better than what you had before. I reminded myself.

We took the stairs two at a time and John stopped outside the nursery. He kissed me and said "Wait out here. I'll be back. I promise." He drew his gun and walked into the room.

But if my other life was anything to go off of, I should've known. You can never trust a promise.
