Alright, so I began this story a long time ago, but because I began so long ago, my writing skills were... uh... less than satisfactory, haha. So I decided to go back and edit this chapter because I feel like it was a really big turn off to all the new incoming readers because it was so short and was basically a filler, timewise.

So anyway, this fic is an all human AU and the characters may be a bit OOC but I tried to keep them as close to the actual thing as possible. This is basically a story of how this entire series would have been in human form, which is really cool and interesting.

Please enjoy, and review, it means a lot c:

Clary POV

Clary walked into school with a grumble. Why does it have to be Monday? Why did the weekend HAVE to end so soon? Every week was the same old thing, get up on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, so on and so forth, and continue the endless torment that was high school. No matter, here she was, standing in the middle of the hallway, gathering her books for her following classes. Across the way stood Clary's tall and lanky best friend, Simon Lewis. Simon was a nice guy, he had mousy brown hair and chocolate brown eyes that were framed by his rather large glasses, and he had a cute crooked smile whenever he talked to her. They had been best friends for nearly as long as she could remember and any time before that was quite meaningless to her.

When he saw her, his face brightened and he scurried closer to her, making her incredibly upset, he was far too happy for 7:30am on a Monday. Simon sniffed in Clary's general direction. "What's with your perfume?" He asked.

She frowned in confusion. "My perfume?"

"Yeah, it's like Eau De Clary-hates-school." He replied smirking. Clary laughed a bit at his dorkiness

"No I believe that would be Clary-hates-Mondays, I give it one spritz every Monday morning. I thought you were more attentive than this, Lewis, get your perfumes right." She said, shoving his shoulder playfully.

"Well, geez, sorry I don't pay attention to all your weird girly smells." He said, crinkling his nose with a laugh.

"Oh, whatever, weirdo." She said with a wink.

They'd always had a weird relationship, it was sort of flirty to other people but to her it just seemed like really close siblings. She felt most comfortable when Simon was by her side and he knew it. He was who kept her sane throughout all of the torment that she she went through. That they both went through really, Clary was your aver age art freak, 5"1 maybe 5"2 with overly curly carrot-red hair and a sprinkle of freckles across her nose. Simon on the other hand was a gamer, which meant he spent countless hours stuck in his bedroom playing Dungeons and Dragons or Smite, both activities, Simon's gaming and Clary's art, branded the two of them as losers to the rest of the school. Which resulted in plenty a swirly in the bathroom or various beverages or food items being dumped on their heads.

They walked to class together, soon settling in their English class. Clary had no problem with English class on a normal day, in fact she rather liked the subject. That is, until you get a teacher like she had who was simply over-active. The woman who taught Clary's class had some serious emotional issues and tended to switch from one mood to another at rapid pace, which both utterly confused the kids and pissed them off, in Clary's case.

"Hey Munchkins!" She said with a bit of a twang. Clary sighed and looked at Simon, sticking her tongue out and pointing at it in a gesture of disgust. She already knew today was going to be a long one.

"Let's get started, ok kiddies? Anderson quit chewing on that pencil!" She shrieked. Jack Anderson, the kid she had yelled at, pulled the pencil out of his mouth with a pop, causing some laughter in the back to arise. The teacher began pointing at some things on the board and at that point Clary just zoned out, sketching some cute scene with birds and twigs in her sketchbook. The teacher knew full well that Clary wouldn't be paying attention in class, but she couldn't care less, the worst thing the woman could do was take away her sketchbook and even then she wouldn't be able to keep it the whole day, plus art was a medium she could do on all places. It wasn't like she could take away all her writing utensils. At the thought Clary smiled deviously, an furiously erased at the line of a feather that had gone just a bit too far.

LINEBREAK

Clary dropped her keys on the table along with her backpack and sketchbook. "Mom, I'm home!" She called into the house, already heading towards the kitchen to look for an after school snack.

"Ah! Back here honey, we have something to talk about." Clary scrunched her eyebrows in slight confusion and closed the fridge, pulling an apple along with her as she walked towards her mother's, Jocelyn, voice.

She walked into the art room, where the form of her mother sat painting a lovely view of a place with a blue moon. This room had always been her favorite room in the apartment complex Clary shared with Jocelyn. Having it meant that Clary had to give up a bit of her bedroom, as had her mother, to build a new wall, but it was completely worth it. The room was filled with various different paint tubes and brushes, plus some chalk and pastels all in a huge bucket, newspaper littered the floor and smocks were thrown every which way across furniture. As Clary looked upon her mother she saw that her vibrant red hair, much like her own, was in a loose bun held up with a paint brush. Clary had always thought her mom was beautiful, even if she said she looked like a mess.

"What's up mom?" Clary asked curiously, trying desperately to raise only one eyebrow, but only succeeded in raising them both, she took a loud crunch of a bite out of her apple.

"Clary… You got accepted into Shadow Lyn high. You have to leave Springbrook" Jocelyn said slowly. She looked at Clary with pity evident in her eyes as she waited for answer.

Clary sat abruptly on the stool near her. This couldn't be happening, she couldn't be moving. Her life, or lack thereof, was in Springbrook, Simon was in Springbrook!

"No mom! No! why do you have to do this to me?!" She inquired loudly, outraged.

"Oh, honey, it's a better school, and it has a better sports program and wonderful academics. It's just a better option for you. Plus it's not the end of the world; I'm working on getting Simon's mother to understand the good of the school. She doesn't like it so far, but even Simon can sign up on his own, his sister is old enough to sign off." Jocelyn said trying to reassure Clary. It made absolutely no difference to Clary, though, trying wasn't enough. She did not want to leave Simon, not even if it were for only a few days, Simon was her best friend and she'd never been separated from him like this. Moving to Shadow Lyn would mean that she might go days without seeing her best friend. The thought in itself was pure horror to her.

"I can't believe you're making me leave Simon, I'd never make you leave Luke." She sneered dramatically.

"Oh, Clary, calm down. You are not leaving Simon, you will still most likely find a way to see him every day, no matter what I say about it, so it's not like you'll be apart from him for any longer than you are on a normal basis when you go to different classes in school as it is. I am your mother and what I say is final and I say that you are going to Shadow Lyn High, no if's, and's, or but's about it. Do you understand?" Jocelyn asked sternly, giving her the mom-glare that could freeze a child in place.

Clary glared one last time to keep herself from screaming at her before she stalked off, not sparing her an answer. Clary ran out of the art room and into her bedroom, slamming the door behind her as she jumped onto her bed. She pulled her pillow up to her face and had a good long scream into it, she felt like crying for an hour, but in reality only a few tears escaped, making a trail down her face and into her pillow. A few moments later Clary dragged out her sketchbook and pencil and began to draw. An image seemed to seep out of her pencil. She drew curves and edges and the shape became a hand reaching up and crushing a heart. She knew it was frightful but it was what she felt, it was an exact replica of what she felt was happening to her heart at that moment.

She threw her sketchbook to the side and dragged her cellphone out of her pocket punch in the number she knew by heart.

"Hello?" Answered a bored sounding Simon.

"Simon," She hiccuped a sob.

At this point Simon grew incredibly aware and he was alert when he asked, "Clary, what's wrong? What happened?"

"M-mum moved me out of Springbrook, I-I'm not going to the same school as you anymore." She could tell that he was reacting in the same way that she had, she heard the whoosh of breath leave his lips, completely blindsided by what she'd said. Then she heard the anger that came from his voice.

"What about me? I'll be all alone here," He said, she knew he wasn't angry at her but rather at the both of their parents for not coordinating this so they would both be able to leave together.

"Yeah, and I'll be all alone there." Clary said quietly. She rolled over in her bed, turning on her side hug the pillow close to her.

Simon took a moment to say something but Clary waited patiently, knowing that he would, eventually, respond. "Where are you going to start going?" he asked.

"Shadow Lyn High." She told him.

"What do I do to get in?" He asked, without hesitation.

Despite herself she began to smile. "Mum said that she was trying to convince your mum to sign you up but so far she wasn't budging. But mum basically outright encouraged you to just go sign up and get Rebecca to sign off on it." She said.

"Then that's what I'll do." He said, she could almost see him nodding in determination.

"Alright. You'll never leave me, right Simon?" she asked.

"Never," He immediately responded.

"Ok, I should go now." Clary told him.

"Yeah, me too, Yossarian needs food and he's kinda eating my hand at the moment." He said with a chuckle.

"Devil cat," Clary giggled.

"Absolutely," He said.

"Good night, Simon." She told him softly.

"G'night, Clary." He responded.

And with a click the line died.

It was quite short, but it is definitely quite a bit longer than it used to be.
