Maya tries to teach Riley how to draw. Just a short little drabble I wrote for fun. As always I do not own Girl Meets World.
"Come on Riley, it's not that hard, I thought you said you wanted to do this." Maya Heart was trying to teach her best friend Riley to draw, with little success. "See, like this, it's not that hard, just follow me, see just these basic shapes."
"But I want to draw PURPLE CATS!" sometimes Riley could be a little, um, difficult. It wasn't really her fault, she was just too much like a little kid. Probably because that was her place in their friend group. Maya was the bad influence, Farkle was the brains, Lucas the muscle, and Riley was their perfect little princess who couldn't even fathom doing anything wrong without help.
"But Riley," Maya was becoming exasperated, "You said you wanted to be able to draw like I do."
"She's right you know," their friend Farkle said as he walked into Riley's room where they were both sitting with clipboards in the bay window. "If you want to be able to draw like Maya does, you have to listen to her."
"Ok Peaches, let's try this again," Maya said with a sigh. As the girls each tried to recreate the picture in front of them, a simple one of a landscape with a small cottage on a hill, Farkle got to really see each girl. He could tell so much about them from their body language. Maya was totally lost in her own world where nothing could ever hurt her already battered soul. Riley was the picture of innocence, a little stir crazy, but really wanting to impress her best friend.
Looking over Maya's shoulder, Farkle saw Lucas coming up the fire escape. Franticly he motioned for the older boy to stop. "I'll meet you in front" he mouthed. When both boys were on a bench in front of the building and had successfully evaded notice from their friends. Lucas asked why he couldn't just come in the bay window like he always did.
"I didn't want you to disturb them, it took so long for Maya to convince Riley to draw something besides purple cats." Farkle explained. Lucas laughed at that, he never could understand why Riley liked purple cats so much.
As they drew Maya reflected on how much it meant to her that Riley wanted to learn from her. It seemed so strange that her little, bubbly Riley, who, although she loved learning, never really thought of her best friend as a teacher, had asked Maya to teach her how to do something other than stay out late.
"I don't want this to end," she realized, looking over Riley's shoulder at her work, Maya could hardly contain a giggle. Riley had drawn the picture on the board, a grassy hill, sun shining high above, one generic tree, and a small brick cottage with a basic window/door design. But what made Maya smile was the purple cat in the front yard.
AN- So this is my first Fan Fic! I would really appreciate feedback and reviews. Constructive criticism welcomed but no bashing or hate please. Kassie
