Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or any of its characters. I also do not own the song "One Boy, One Girl" by Collin Raye.
I'm still pretty new to writing fan fiction and this is my first attempt at a songfic. Also if you haven't heard the song before, I would highly recommend it. Well, I hope you enjoy.
One Boy, One Girl
He finally gave in to his friend's girlfriend
When she said, "there's someone you should meet"
"Come on Aang just this once. . . please," Suki begged for the thousandth time that night. "Just go and meet her. I promise you, you won't regret it."
"Fine! All right. I'll go, but you have to promise me that this is the last time you're gonna do this," he caved for the opportunity to get his roommate's well-intentioned but pushy girlfriend off his back, "especially after last time when you tried to set me up with Katara. Now it's always awkward when she comes to visit Sokka."
At a crowded restaurant way cross town
He waited impatiently
His table creaked back and forth with every light shift of weight in the center of the uncharacteristic ruckus of the Jasmine Dragon. Aang was far from the impatient type: he could meditate for hours on end. Still, he tapped and twirled and counted his fingers all the while wondering what was taking this girl so long to show up or if she already had shown up and he didn't know it. After all, the only thing Suki had told him was her name and that he would "know her when he saw her," a lot of help that was.
When she walked in their eyes met
and they both stared
The metallic jingle of the bell that hung above the door caught his attention for the first time. His eyes traveled from the spoon he had begun to weave through his dexterous fingers and up toward the distracting noise. The spoon came to a halt as it twirled between his index and middle finger. All of his thoughts seemed to cease as his stormy grey eyes came to rest on two beautiful sea foam ones peeking out from behind pure ebony bangs.
And right there and then everyone else disappeared
All the conversations and whistling of tea kettles fell away. Nothing registered to him other than the girl who just came through the door: the soft shade of her eyes accentuated by the dark green of her jacket; her dark ankle length pants that matched perfectly to her hair that framed her delicate face, and her smooth alabaster skin that seemed to glow in the dim lighting of the restaurant.
But One boy, one girl, two hearts beating wildly
His heart stopped, and then fluttered, gradually finding its strong steady rhythm.
To put it mildly it was love at first sight
She couldn't help but blush at the sight of the boy staring at her with an awestruck look on his face.
He smiled, she smiled, and they knew right away
Realizing that he had been blatantly staring, he did the only thing that felt right which was to spread a wide and cheeky smile across his face. Much to his delight it was met with a friendly smirk.
This was the day they'd waited for all their lives
She moved confidently over and sat across from the grinning boy and extended her hand. "The name's Toph," as her voice echoed around in his head, his smile widened. You were right Suki, he thought to himself as he returned her gesture.
"I'm Aang. It's a pleasure to meet you," he confessed.
"Yeah, yeah no need to be so proper about it," she returned casually. "You want to get out of here and go do something a little more fun?"
And for a moment the whole world revolved
Around one boy and one girl
Now this doesn't include the entire song, but I got to this point and thought it seemed kind of right, though I could be wrong and I may decide to add on with the rest of the song later. Anyways, thanks for reading. Please, review and tell me what you think! :)
