Grandma Sidney's Bake Shop had been open for about 15 minutes when Kurt and Ed had stopped in and noticed a new poster announcing a 5 percent increase. "I put the sign up this morning," Grandma Sidney told them. "I had to raise my store prices by 5 percent because I have so many new expenses. Like right now I need a new window for my back room because somebody broke it trying to get into my store last night."

"Are you serious Granny!?" Ed exclaimed.

"Have you called the police yet Grandma? And was anything stolen?"

"No, but only because nothing was stolen." She led Kurt and Ed to a small storeroom in the back. "I use this space here as an office. I sat here and made my price change poster last night. As soon as I was done, I left it on that old desk. When I left to go home I locked the door to the main part of my store, so whoever got in was stuck in this here little storeroom. Nothing in here worth stealing."

While Ed stayed with Grandma Sidney to wait for Tim to show, Kurt left and wandered down to the old fishing pond, where he happened to find KND operatives Hoagie and Wallabee fishing. "Hey, did you hear that somebody broke a window at my grandma Sidney's bake shop?" he asked.

"I haven't heard a thing." Hoagie said. "We've been here since the sun came up. Haven't talked to anybody since."

Wally pointed towards the bucket. "If you look in the bucket you can see why."

Hoagie then stood up and put his fishing pole down. "I'm starving! I've got a dollar left from yesterday's snack run. Now that your grandma is there, I'm going up to the Shop to get myself three cupcakes."

"Better get another dime from somewhere," Wally told him. "A dollar's not enough any more. As for me, I'm going home to get something to eat."

Kurt then proceeded to walk away before he stopped dead in his tracks. Wait a minute... he thought as he turned around and looked at the boys. "You both stay right here!" Kurt said. "I know which one of you broke that window. You'd better think of a way to pay for it, because I'm telling Grandma Sidney."
