Disclaimer: I own nothing of Twilight, and am simply trying to get the stories out of my head.
Author's Note: Currently my musical muse River Flows In You – Yiruma is responsible for all of my twilight fics, and quite possibly a dance at my wedding ;)
It had
been sometime since the Volteri had surrounded the peaceful town of
Forks Washington. Life, as it was, was peaceful for the Cullens, all
very much amazed at the new tangent their lives had taken. Carlisle
was a doting grandfather now, and Esme finally got her most sacred of
wishes to watch a child grow, although she watched as Renesme's
grandmother, not her mother Esme was for once in her lives, both
mortal and immortal, completely satisfied. Emmett and Rosalie were
falling into their roles as aunt and uncle easily, and although
Rosalie ached for the opportunity to have a child of her own, the
rareness of the gift Bella and Edward had been given did not pass her
by. She was glad to have the opportunity to be a part of Renesme's
life. And a life it was. Every day she grew more and more, It had
been four years and Renesme was almost full grown, looking like a
teenager more every day, something that was not missed by Bella,
Edward, or Jacob.
Fights between Jacob and Edward were becoming
more common due to thoughts Jacob was having trouble keeping away,
and althouh Bella laughed at them, she ached over the fact that her
child was growing up.
As night fell one cool winter evening, Bella sat on the bed Edward and her shared in their cottage. She gazed out the window, watching the slow flakes fall softly to the ground, remembering how they used to make her shiver, when she was human. Warm arms encompassed her from behind, a whispered sigh fell through her parted lips as she felt fire shoot through her body at his embrace.
"Ferrari for your thoughts?" Edward smirked, whispering in her ear, pausing to kiss his way down her neck.
"As if I need another Ferrari Edward!" Bella swatted him playfully. She sighed out of missed habit and leant back into him. It was so nice being equal with him, the newborn strength faded now, she no longer had to fear leaning back on him too hard, although she was sure she'd never really hurt him in the past.
"I... I feel something coming. I cant figure out what it is, and Alice says she doesnt see anything... But... I feel like something is coming for us. Not Alice, or Carlisle... none of them" she said gazing out the window up to the main house.
"But for you and I..." Edward did not sound as concerned as she had expected, and at first that bothered her. Perhaps he was thinking along the lines that Alice was. That she was crazy.
'Is it something bad?" His voice was hoarse and understanding broke across her features. She turned to look at him.
"You
feel it dont you?"
He sighed as he nodded. "For some time now.
I dont know what it is either. I didnt want to worry you, and somehow
it doesnt feel..."
"Dangerous." He dazzled Bella with his breathtaking smile, as he nuzzled behind her again, his head resting against her neck. He peppered soft kisses along the length of her exposed skin, brusing aside her warm chestnut hair.
"Right." His voice was huskier now, and she knew their conversation was not far from slipping away. "I'm not scared though." Her hand reached up to run through his unruly hair, and she tangled her fingers in it, pleased when he sighed with pleasure.
"Because we'll face it together, Love" he finished her thought as he turned her and drew her into his arms, and onto the soft bed. His lips met hers and the night faded away.
