"Torao! Come on!" Luffy dragged the taller man through the streets busy with people and stalls.

"Calm down Luffy. We still have a whole hour before the fireworks start." Law followed behind easily, not minding all that much as the teen pulled him along by the hand.

"But we have to find the perfect spot!" He insisted. The Straw Hat pirate continued to lead his ally out of the village down toward the beach. He looked back and forth surveying each possible location until eventually the pair found themselves quite far from the noise and bustle of the festival. Luffy lit up as he saw a large weather smoothed rock on the beach. "Here!" He climbed up on top of it and looked around in a circle.

"Here? You sure?"

"Yup!" Luffy nodded with a grin. "It's perfect. No noise, no people, and a clear view."

Law shrugged and sat down beside him. "Alright. It should be starting soon."

Luffy scooted Law back a bit so he could comfortably sit in his lap. They stayed silent until the fireworks started and as the lights lit up the sky Luffy only made the occasional noise of awe. Reds and greens exploded into flowers, followed by ripples of blue and stars of yellow.

"Torao?" Luffy said as the night started coming to an end.

"Yes, Straw Hat?"

"It's been a crazy year, huh?"

"It has."

"But a good one."

Law nodded.

"I'm glad." In the distance the villagers were starting the countdown to midnight.

"To a New Year and new adventures!" Luffy suddenly exclaimed earning a laugh from the doctor behind him.

"To a New Year." He agreed.

"And continued alliance." Luffy added though Law barely heard him over the new crescendo of fireworks.

Law leaned forward, tilting Luffy's head slightly. "And a little more." He kissed the teen gently on the lips watching the fireworks reflect in his eyes. Luffy blinked before returning the kiss fiercely, launching himself at Law and knocking them off the rock into sand. And from the village they could hear the people and their crews all cry out into the night sky welcoming in the New Year. They stayed laying on the sand against each other watching the last of the fireworks burn amongst the stars and ushered in a new era.
