As stated in the summary, my class had to write poems. We were given a guideline of Walt Whitman's "I Hear America Singing" and we were allowed to change some of the words around to fit the poem. First thing that came to mind was Batman for some reason but after I started it just clicked. Anyway enjoy.

I hear Gotham's criminals moaning, the varied moans I hear.

Those of thugs, each one crying in a cell as it should be long and lasting.

The Joker groaning his as he lays in his own foiled plot or scheme.

Poison Ivy crying hers as she makes ready for Arkham Asylum, and forced to leave her beloved plants behind.

The robbers collecting what doesn't belong to them in their panic, the Batman's footsteps on the stairway.

The Penguin sulking as he sits on his stool, the penguins singing theirs as they swim.

The Batman's song, the Dark Knight's on his way in the Batmobile, or at the Batcave preparing or at the scene already.

The people cheering for the Batman's victory, or for the young Robin at his side, or for the Batgirl or Nightwing.

Each groaning what belongs to him or her and to none else.

The whines that belong to the criminals at the jail and the victims of said crimes.

Moaning with open mouths their pitiful sad cries.
