Link sat at his desk, trying to think of a way to ask Ilia out.

"Hey Ilia, do you wanna come goat-herding? No...too dumb...Hey Ilia, wanna go explore the Faron Woods...no, too many creeps."

There was a loud knock at his door, and he looked up.

There was another knock.

He stood up, climbed down his ladder, and went to the door.

He opened it up, and who should be standing there but--

"Ilia! Hi."

She smiled.

"Hi Link. My dad wanted me to give you this"

She handed him a package wrapped in brown paper.

"See you around Link."

She walked down the path back towards the town.

"Ilia! Wait up!"

She turned back.

"Yes?"

"I was wondering..do you maybe...wanna..."

"What is it Link? Spit it out."

"Doyouwannagowatchthesunsetwithmelater?"

"Sorry, I didn't catch that."

Link sighed, got the words straight in his head, and said it again.

" I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to go watch the sunset with me later?"

Ilia smiled as though she had been waiting for this her whole life.

"Sure, that'd be great."

They waved goodbye, and Link walked back inside. Once the door was closed and locked, he let out a deafening "YEEESSSSSS!!" that echoed off the walls, and followed it with a stupid little dance.

He looked around, as if to make sure that no one was watching, and grinned stupidly, whilst repeating: "I got a date with my girl...I got a date with my girl..."

Later that afternoon, Link sat on his porch with his feet dangling off the edge, and a hot mug of soup in his hand. He sipped his soup, and glanced down at the path, keeping an eye for Ilia. She appeared several minutes later, running up the path.

Link waved to her before going inside and setting his soup down.

He hopped off his deck, and rolled on the ground below.

Ilia clapped in amazement.

"Thank you, thank you. I'm here till I die. Thank you. Try the Goat, it's excellent."

Ilia looped her arm in his, and they walked towards the spring.

"So, Link, you gonna show me how you use your bow?"

"Ah-ha! No."

She gave him puppy dog eyes.

"Fine. But don't tell your dad."

When they got to the spring, Ilia grabbed Link's bow from his bag.

Link sighed.

"Alright. You wanna get your opponent's body part inside this makeshift crosshair. then just pull the string back, and loose the arrow."

It took Ilia more times to get it right than it took Link, but she eventually got it, and began shooting down leaves and apples and all manner of tiny things.

"Alright, now give it back."

"No."

Link tackled her to the ground, and started tickling her.

"Alright! Okay! Submit, submit!!"

Link stopped tickling her. Their faces were inches from one another. Link closed his eyes, and leaned in, brushing his lips gently against hers.

She sighed as he pulled away.

"We should be going."

--

Link walked Ilia all the way home, before splashing around in the river happily.

When he got back to his tree-home, he touched his hand to his lips.

"I don't believe it."

He had forgotten to put his ladder down.

tee-hee...How awfully forgetful of poor Link. I'm a sucker for a humorous ending ain't I?
