Summary: Leah and Edward got upset when their daughter Bree surprised them.
Edward and I were in our room when Bree came into our room with a candle - - which she probably lit. Both of us were upset about that. She walked over to us. She said "Look Momma and Daddy, I lit the candle." You should have seen his face. I took the candle from her and blew it out.
"BREE, where did you get the candle and the match? " I asked, worried.
"It was in the drawer in the kitchen," she answered looking at Edward.
"Sweetie, you know you can get hurt and burn our house down!" He was trying to be nice to her.
She looked at me and then she started to cry. I pulled her into my embrace and tried to calm her. She knew better than to play with fire; she is only eight years old.
"Momma, I am sorry - -I wanted to see what it looks like by itself," she cried on my shoulder.
"Daddy and I aren't mad at you, we don't want our little girl to get hurt," I reassured her.
She was still crying when she pulled out of my embrace. We hardly scolded her, but it was the time - she could have been hurt and burned our house down. I think we are good parents - she gets what she wants within reason.
After she pulled out of my hug she went over to Edward and started to cry more. I felt bad but we had to be firm with her.
"Momma and I love you, and you saw candle light before sweetheart, it's no different than without a cake," he responded kissing her forehead.
"I am sorry Momma and Daddy, I won't do that again," she mumbled as she walked over to our door and headed out. When she was nowhere in sight I turned to Edward and asked him why she would want to play with a candle.
