Prologue

Dusk Prince paced furiously in front of his wife's door, mumbling a prayer frantically under his breath. He really wanted to sit, but . . . he was too anxious to do so. His wife could die at any moment. Any. Moment.

There was no way he was about to worry about his own fatigue. His wife was probably about twenty times more tired than him right now. If not more so.

A single cry rang out through the air, and his breath hitched in his throat. He rushed to the closed door, and it opened just seconds later.

Candy, the head of staff, smiled at him. "It's a filly."

She quickly stepped aside, allowing him to rush past her and to his wife's side. "Are you okay? I've been so worried! Please tell me you're not hurt! Please!"

The white mare laughed, her pink eyes shining happily. "I'm fine, Dusk!" She rubbed her nose against his before motioning over towards a crib by the wall.

His heart fluttered in his chest as he approached the crib slowly. After a moment of hesitation, he peeked in. A warm glow spread through him, and a grin spread across his face. He was a father!

The tiny filly blinked her big, light pink eyes up at him, and she had a little patch of pink hair. She seeming smiled up at him, sneezing.

"Sh- she's perfect." He mumbled, wiping away a few tears. "And she looks exactly like you, Dawn . . ."

"Her name's Celestia." His wife mumbled, her voice betraying her exhaustion. He turned his gaze from the little filly and to his wife's. "Rest, now. I'll be back when you're feeling better."

"I love . . ." Dawn never finished her sentence, causing him to smile. "I love you, too." He mumbled, backing out of the room, closing the door with his magic.

It was time to notify Equestria of their new princess. His new princess.
