Then I fell; down towards the fiery pit of stakes and to my death. The pain was immense as I was impaled in several places and burnt alive. Fortunately, my soul quickly left my body so I only had to bear the pain for a while. But then I was free to look upon my burning body and the faces of my friends. I could hear their wordless screams and see the pain, sorrow and sadness that filled their faces. Guilt swept over me. It was my fault. My fault all my friends were suffering. I had died and left them. But all for a good cause. The Vampaneze Lord lay burning beside me. I hoped his soul would never reach Paradise. With one final look at my friends, I turned and faced the stars, ready to truly depart this world.

White light. Bright while light that was oddly familiar. Of course. It was the light of the sun. But I felt no pain as I looked around. I was in a better place where the sun's rays could not harm vampires. As I was sitting up, someone threw themselves at me with a cry of "Larten!" But it was not a cry of anger or hate as I was so used to. It was a cry filled with one pure thing: love.

I held the person out in front of me and recognised them instantly. It was Arra Sails. The beautiful Arra Sails. My soul mate. Tears of joy streamed down her perfect face and dripped onto my lap. "Arra" I murmured as I brought my lips gently to hers. It was wonderful to feel her touch once again. See her beautiful face and hear her sweet voice once again. As I stroked her cheek, a single thought flashed through my mind.

Maybe death isn't so bad after all.
