Invitation to marine paradise
March 2019: Hope Island
Gi checked her reflection on her laptop. It was incredible. They were protecting the planet and had been on countless Missions for past 29 years but she and the other planeteers looked exactly the same.
Perhaps their simple diet and crystal clean air and water in the island had to do something with it. Their appearences might not have changed but lots of other things did.
Linka and Wheeler were now officially a couple where she was the bridesmaid and Kwame the best man. The ever wise but shy Ma-Ti was the Priest. Their simple wedding was attended by sea and tropical birds amid-st the joyful music of the dolphins and whales.
People, specifically the Gen Y, Z and Millennials were exceedingly environment conscious. UN Sustainable Development Goals reflected this trend. Environment, Bio-diversity, Renewable Energy and Sustainability were the focus of futuristic researchers and social enterprises and in themselves, the Planeteers were heroes. They were accessible exclusively on social media.
An alert sounded on her screen, signaling a new email. Gi smiled, thinking this was another fan mail. Instead of that, the content of this particular message warmed her from the core.
Kate Camden, the Nobel winning Marine Biologist from Australia had set up a Marine University and wanted Gi and the Planeteers to inaugurate the breeding, genetics, frozen zoo, restoration ecology, conservation and rehabilitation centers of the Under Sea University near Tahiti. The research recruits came from the best universities and schools globally. Their singular focus was endangered plant and animal marine life. Gi was their hero.
Gi sensed a smiling Gaia and sent her confirmation before telepathically asking Ma-Ti to call in the rest of the Planeteers to this Communication Room.
