Jack couldn't believe this day had finally come. After Teri was murdered, Jack didn't think he'd ever find love again, ever deserve love again. But then, he and Audrey found each other. It was never an easy relationship, but these two never stopped fighting for their love. The two hardest parts were convincing her father James Hellar, and his daughter Kimberly, to accept this relationship. Particularly given that James Hellar was now president of the United States. When he threatened to kill Jack if he ever hurt Audrey, Jack knew he could back it up. Truth be told, Jack would do the same to anyone who hurt Kim, president or not. Kim had actually been harder to convince, but it had happenned. And now, they were all here, along with others, to see Jack and Audrey get married. Given Hellar's job, he arranged for the wedding to happen in the White House. Audrey would continue later as Hellar's chief of staff, Jack would advise the president on matters relating to terrorism. It was probably good that each knew what they were getting into, who they were marrying, but Jack would've been happy marrying Audrey anywhere. A part of him always feared something bad would come, to take away his happiness. As the priest began the service, as Jack was getting ready to say his marriage vows, something happenned. President Hellar's beeper went off. The whole world knew he was attending his daughter's wedding, but he always kept his beeper on him in case of an emergency. The whole room heard this, and the president quietly went out to check on whatever situation now required his attention. Jack and Audrey mentally braced themselves for the news, the priest began leading his congregation in a prayer for their nation. After a few minutes president Hellar came back in, with a sheepish look on his face. Everyone listened closely to the news he was about to give.

.

Hellar: I want everyone to know that everything is fine. I checked with my national security advisors to confirm. It seems my beeper was letting me know that it needs new batteries. Again, I apologize for the interruption. You can continue with the ceremony father.

.

Jack and Audrey laughed at this momentary interruption, as did everyone else. It was a Sunday, chances were that Saturday Night Live would begin satirizing this moment in less than a week. But that was the worst moment of the wedding. The rest of the day wasn't nearly as terrifying. Jack and Audrey said their marriage vows before God and witnesses and officially became husband and wife. At the reception they danced with each other, Audrey danced with her father, Jack danced with his daughter. Jack and Audrey both knew that things wouldn't always be this calm or funny, but they would have each other when things got bad. And they would always have this day.
