Hey, welcome to my new story :). So this is basically going to be the unwritten moments of the Harry Potter characters. I may do some of the written parts, but by other characters points of view, but I'm not sure yet. We'll see.
I'm not sure how often I'll be updating, but I'll try for at least once a week.
Sorry the first chapter is so short. One day I was just thinking about what could've happened here, and decided I needed to write it down. And what better place to put it than here?
And please REVIEW!
Severus Snape lifted the almost empty box off the ground and onto his desk. After years of teaching Potions at Hogwarts, Dumbledore had finally given him the Defence position, so Severus was cleaning out his classroom. Although he had occupied the room for fifteen years, Severus had very few personal possessions. Most teachers had photos of family members and odd little trinkets on theirs desks, some had hung curtains, and the Muggle Studies teacher even had inspirational posters. Severus had none of these. The box held merely a few quills and some parchment in it. Everything of any importance, which wasn't much, had been in his office.
Severus decided to do one last search of the room to be sure he hadn't forgotten anything. The potions ingredients were to stay in the room for the students, as were the potions books he found in the cupboard. But as Severus went to close the cupboard, a specific book caught his eye. It was a copy of Advanced Potion Making, old and worn. Severus reached into the cupboard and pulled it out. He opened the back cover, and saw, as he had suspected he would, the inscription, written tight in the bottom corner, This Book is Property of the Half-Blood Prince.
Severus stood holding the book for a long while. He couldn't decide what to do with it. It wasn't like he needed it anymore; he had bought a new copy for teaching purposes after Dumbledore had employed him. But this book, with all of its homemade spells written in the margins, could be very dangerous in the hands of a student.
Severus had made up his mind to take the book with him when he remembered Harry Potter. Harry wasn't actually enrolled in Potions for this year, considering Severus had still been teacher when the O.W.L. results had come. But seeing as Slughorn was taking the post, and had always accepted the students who had received Exceeds Expectations in his classes before, Severus didn't see why he wouldn't this year. And when Harry was accepted into the class, he wouldn't have a book, and would have to borrow. Severus knew Harry could greatly benefit from this book. It had spells that would become increasingly useful as Voldemort continued to get more powerful. He wasn't sure, though, whether he wanted Harry to have the book. It was possible he would use the spells as James had. Using them on unsuspecting folk in the corridors.
Or, Harry would use the spells as Lily would have, had she known about them. Sharing their uses with only those closest to him. Only using the ones that had descriptions to go along with them.
Severus debated. As much as he hated the thought of Harry having this piece of his youth, he knew that if lily had thought it could help him, she would want Harry to have it. And what Lily would have wanted was more important to Severus than anything.
A few weeks into September, Severus was teaching his 6th year Defence class. He was walking between the desks, checking students work over their shoulders, and correcting it aloud, when he walked by Harrys desk. He couldn't help but glance down into Harrys bag as he pretended to read his work. Severus was glad to see his old potions book tucked between some parchment, spine up. He hoped Harry would use it wisely.
